My fiance was breast fed until he was 3 i think thats along time i was never breast fed . He gets sick alot while i never do
Here's some info from the folks who set the standards by which pediatricians should get their recommendations.
From the World Health Organization: "Breastfeeding is an unequalled way of providing ideal food for the healthy growth and development of infants; it is also an integral part of the reproductive process with important implications for the health of mothers. As a global public health recommendation, infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life to achieve optimal growth, development and health.
Thereafter, to meet their evolving nutritional requirements, infants should receive nutritionally adequate and safe complementary foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond."
Also, "the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) reaffirms its recommendation of exclusive breastfeeding for about the first six months of a baby's life, followed by breastfeeding in combination with the introduction of complementary foods until at least 12 months of age, and continuation of breastfeeding for as long as mutually desired by mother and baby."
I nursed my son for two years and would have continued longer if I hadn't gotten really sick and needed to take medications for a while that weren't safe to pass along to him. I miss it terribly.
As long as u like really u can stop anytime
With my 2 youngest I breastfed for about a year. I plan to do the same with this baby.
They say now they recommend 2 years but you can stop anytime...
The age depends on the person. Some people stop like after a year or so. I know one lady who breastfed until her child was 8 (long time).
As long as you want. 6- months to year is what most doctors reccomend I did it for a long time with all of mine
I mean what age does people usually stop breastfeeding?
with my first son it was about 30 nuns after I gave birth.
Depends. Its best to gobstraight to it with skin to skin and try right away.
