Thank you ladies. That really helped:)
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusively breastfeeding (no other supplementation or means of nutrition) until an infant is six months of age, and then breastfeeding in conjunction with the addition of solid foods until at least 12 months of age and continuing as long as it is mutually beneficial to mother and child.
The World Health Organization has the same recommendation about exclusive breastfeeding to six months but encourages breastfeeding in conjunction with solid foods until at least two years of age.
Worldwide, the average weaning age is between two and four years old.
My son self-weaned at 24 months. I hope to nurse this baby longer. There is no age at which the nutritional value of breastmilk is not beneficial to a growing child's health. It is perfectly healthy for a toddler or a preschooler to continue to nurse or to drink expressed breastmilk as long as the child and the mother are mutually agreeable to it.
I did it with my first for 14 months. I was aiming for a year and a half. My little girl was running at 11 months and had a large vocabulary. In the end i was a bit weirded out by the fact that she was walking up to me asking for "some boobies". So i weaned her at 14 months. To each her own though. Do it as long as you both are comfortable. This time around i hope to make it a full year. With a toddler running around it might make things harder!
You breastfeed for as long as you and baby arr comfortable with it. Most women i know stop anywhere from 6 months to a year. But i've known quite a few women who fed up until the child was 3-6 years old.
I have always wanted to supply by breast and pump for up to a year at least and then probably pump only for another year or so. But breastfeeding didnt work for me with my son. Im 10 weeks now, and im hoping it all works out for me this go round.
Yes you can give them milk:)
It's recommended for at least a year, but it's up to you.
Okay. Also say you stop breastfeeding at a year. Should you still give them like warm whole milk before a nap or what? Im a ftm im just curious what other moms have done :)
I did it for almost 5 months. Some women do the first 3months. Others up to 6, some do it til the child is 1. So it's all up to you whatever you feel comfortable with.
It's all up to you. My babe is 3 months, and I'm trying to go as long as I can up to 1 year.
