curiousity question???

So if you have a baby early and he/she is little or even full term baby and still 4lbs or even 5lbs will they keep baby in nicu at all or for a long period of time? Like I worry in general because I live an hour 20 min away from my hospital and I worrry about if my baby has any reason to be in hospital once they release me... why would they keep a baby like usual reasons for it?

They usually base it on the APGAR score. If that comes out well then they have no reason to keep baby.

If baby is feeding, breathing fine, no major complications,  and using restroom...they may send baby home when they release you. It depends on how confident the doctor is. My nephew was born at 36 weeks last year and my doctor sent him home. I belbelieve he weighed 4 lbs 7 ounces.
