doctor's appointment tomorrow

Hi... I'm currently 29+6 as of today. I have a doctor's appointment when I wake up to see if I have dialated more from when I was in the hospital on December 12th... I have been having contractions for 5 days (why they are checking me) so my question is if I have dialated more... what will they do? I'm a first time mom.

If you are still dialating they will try and stop your labor. they most likely will give you a steroid injection and a second on in 24 hours. I went into pretend labor about a week ago at 32 wks 4days. I hate to say it but at 30 weeks if you deliver you'll still be spending time in the nicu. the steroids help their lungs develop but they are still a ways form not needing o2 support and an incubator. they used demerol to quiet my contractions. then bed rest

Thanks for your reply! I will definitely talk to my midwife about some steroids to help develop his lungs faster... I am hoping she will let me get some because if he does come early... I want his lungs to be developed fully so he doesn't have anything wrong. I really would hate staying in the hospital in the NICU. Thanks for your help! Good luck to you too! :)

I think it would also depend on how much you are dilated , if you are leaking water they might just admit you and have you deliver baby but I honestly dont really have a clue :/ I have read lots of mums got there labour stopped and carried full term or nearly . But some had to deliver early if labour couldn't be stopped or had lost to much water. Sorry I couldn't help much but I would talk to your midwives with all your concerns :) x

Im not 100% but possibly give you steroids to mature the babies lungs encase your waters do break. But most likely try to stop the labour with meds if your do go into labour properly and your waters dont break as you are still quite early. I will be having steroid shots also next week because I have obstetric cholestasis . I would definitely ask about them because they are great for babies lungs encase baby does decide to make an early appearance . Good luck and hope your baby stays put for you for another few weeks :) x
