doctor's appointment

I have my 1st ever doctors appointment tomorrow. They told me that it will take 3-4 hours. Do any of you know what all happens during that time?

If they regret you to a hospital, try going to the ob/gyn in a hospital. That's why mine is long because my ob/gyn is in the hospital (it's a pretty huge hospital) so I have to talk to everyone there that will assist with the birth. It'll bee easier and more convenient for you

yeah, who has half a day for a doctor's appointment (half a work day that is)?  That's a bit much to ask and if that is how they run their patients---  that would worry me.  I don't have time for that.  :>)  good luck

Yeah I was questioning why it was so long just because they don't do ultrasounds there. They only refer you to the hospital. And they have most of my information so I'll check, but I was definitely already wanting to changes doctors.

Yea I set my first doctor's appointment and they told me mine would be just as long. But that's because I would have to take tests fill out paperwork go over medical history and talk to the midwife about how I would like my pregnancy to go. Luckily the birth center had a site where I could download the paperwork and have it all filled out for when I go.

Gosh, that is a long appointment.  I never had any appointments my entire pregnancies that long!  You fill out paperwork I guess your first visit, maybe they are factoring that in.  and you have a sit down with the doctor to explain things and then an exam (which is kind of quick, ??).  Maybe they are throwing in an ultrasound in there too but wowie, that is really a long time.  That's about as long as the long glucose test if you fail your first.  I would question why that appt. is so long and consider if they are going to tie you up like that, that you should find another doctor.  I was able to zip in with a quick hour break for work---  within an hour, I could get there, see the doc and get back to work.  good luck
