false labor? help

Hi ladies. Im due January 22nd. So yesterday I had a doc app at 11am. My doctor checked me and said im 1cm dilated and baby's head is down but not fully engaged. It hurt really bad when he checked me and he said its normal for spotting and cramping to happen afterwards. I got home at 11:30 and went on a walk since I felt crampy and thought it'd help with my son drop farther down. I had more pressure around 12:30 then it subsided around 2pm. I had back pain and cramping off and on until about 4:40pm it got more intense then subsided around 6pm. Around 7:30pm it started up again. Felt like someone was stabbing me in my lower back, my stomach was tight, menstrual cramp like pain followed by pangs of pressure and sharp pains down low. I started to think this was it and my mom was going to take me to the hospital. I had a little diarrhea around 8:20. I started getting very cold, my palms were sweaty, knees were shaking, and my back pain intensified. Im assuming my adrenalin had kicked in because around 9:30pm it subsided and went away. Im just wondering if this has happened to any other ladies? Im a FTM and feeling disappointed cause I was so sure I was going into labor. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow and im terrified of being induced.

Ah thank you ladies. How frustrating it is when us mommas are so excited and something like this happens then just vanishes! But baby will come when he's ready (: your comments helped thank you. Fingers crossed that I'll go into labor on my own!!

Early labour can sadly start and stop /: by the sounds of it that's what you're experiencing.. i had this with my first, all i can say is ignore it until contractions are close together and the pain feels too much, once you hit the next stage it's full blown labour and it won't stop. I had this for a few days with my first then spent a day walking here there and everywhere i had her at 38+6 (: my second was a completely different story, i had him after a sweep at 40+4 good luck!

I'm almost 40 weeks and I got checked yesterday. I was cramping on and off the whole day but it got less and less intense as the day went on. I thought it might of started labor too but it didn't :/ just hurts like heck!

It was more than likely caused by the check. You could also be entering an inactive phase called promodal labor. It can last for a while. It is just your body preparing it's self for active labor.
