fetal movement

Hi Ladies,

Me and my husband are expecting our first child. But a year prior we had a miscarriage at 9 weeks, which is why I would say im always worried about the worst. My question is im currently 18 weeks pregnant, and im not sure if im feeling the baby move. Like I said this is our first baby. I feel like little gas bubbles every once in a while but nothing consistant. So is this normal??? I mean i just want the best and im a very worried first time mom. So if anyone out there has any answers i would appriecate it if you could comment. Thanks a bunch!!!

You might be feeling the baby move...I didn't have any movement until 20w...this is my first pregnancy and the doctor said it was very normal.  When I went for my 18w ultrasound, my son was doing somersaults in my belly and I couldn't feel a thing!  So, even though you aren't feeling anything, doesn't mean that the baby isn't active.  Even now, at 22w I have days where I don't feel anything and I try to just reassure myself that he is either resting or not moving 'strong' enough for me to feel.

gas bubbles are the first movements you feel and yes its the baby. They will become stronger as time goes on I dont think I felt a real strong movement till wk 24 with my first so dont worry you are right on track.

i think its normal when its your first child, i went to see my midwife at 16weeks and she asked if i was feeling anything yet but i said no, and she did say when its your first it can take a little longer to start feeling anything, im 17w 4d and i have felt something when in the bath but i really have to be still and think about it otherwise i wouldnt notice it if you know what i mean! ithink more stronger movements happen 21weeks +
