hairdresser

Hi, I'm 16 weeks pregnant and a hairdresser. I have had 2 miscarriages very early on and don't know what to do for the best, this time round I feel great in myself but everyone keeps telling me that I should quit my job because of what I have been through. I have had this job for over 8 years n even though I know maybe I should slow down I don't see why I need to quit. Are there any pregnant hairdressers out there that can give me some advice?

My cousin us a hairdresser and she carried her son full term and had no issues.  She worked up until the day he was born.
It's completely safe.

My friend was working as a hairdresser through the whole of her pregnancy.  She was even working on the day she went into labour. Her daughter is now 4 years old and os completely healthy. If you feel you can do it then go ahead but know your limits :(

I'm a hairdresser of 10 years, i work 12 hour days on Thursday which are a killer. I have had a good pregnancy so far I'm 23 weeks. I had a scare at 20 weeks but everything is perfect. Raising your legs above your heart for 15 mins after work is good for you and your blood flow. I make sure that my back is well supported at night and take regular breaks at work.
Congratulations mamma.

I'm a hair dresser and so far I've had an easy pregnancy.. I'm almost 26 weeks! Just make sure you are able to take breaks to rest those feet and your back! I know my receptionist would tend to book me straight through a day and I wasn't able to rest... then I would get growing pains... which I would just take a lil Tylenol! Hope this helps!  :)

Thank u for ur comments. It's driving me crazy that everyone is telling me what to do when I know that I feel fine, if I knew for one second that it was causing a strain on myself I would quit straight away.

Don't quit ur job. My doctor told me that he tells his hairdressers they are fine. Just make sure it's well ventilated. You can ask your doctor too. According to what I asked my doctor you should be ok!

yeah me :) im 38weeks + 5 and had a problem free pregnancy. i have lots of friends that are also hairdressers and also been fine.
the fumes are not dangerous for baby (in a ventilated salon of course)
but the stress of the job can be a problem.
i went casual at 30weeks and definitely felt much better and less stressed.

I'm not a hairdresser but I do not see why you need to quit. Maybe they are saying the chemicals but turn on a fan and open the door. As long as you are heathy not high risk why quit. I hear it helps alot in delivery when you stand a lot for work and walk. As long as the doc is OK and you feel good keep going !
