Unfortunantly the first U/S machine that detected the HB was older then the second one.... The only thing I can think of is the baby moved or something and they couldnt detect the HB the second time but I dont know if thats even possible and Ive never heard that outcome from anyone so far.
I hate to hear the negative side of things and Im sorry that happened to you.... Kind of freaks me out because I know thats a huge possability for me.... I just hope that its not the case.... Is there anyone out there who had something similar to my situation that turned out for the best and not the worst..... I losing hope hearing negative situations....
Depending on how old the ultrasound machines are it could very well be that the one used for the 2nd ultrasound is older and not as sensitive as the first. I wouldn't give up hope but at the same time I would prepare for the worst outcome just in case. Even if they aren't planning to do another ultrasound at your next appt I would INSIST on one. IF they refuse, I would get a second opinion from a different doctor.
Thank you for your advice and opinions. My period was dec.31. Which puts me at exactly what the docs said 7 weeks 3 days at the time of my U/S. Now Id be at 8 weeks. As for the second U/S they didnt tell me if the baby was seen just that they couldnt find a heartbeat.. They saw the sac I know that cuz I saw her measuring it. I wasnt given a whole lot of answers she just told me there was no HB and that Id have a miscarriage and sent me on my way. Im hoping and praying that my next appointment on friday shows me something positive... Im still taking my prenatal vitamins... so i havent given up yet......
I would get another ultrasound just to make sure. But it happened to me my first pregnancy. Heartbeat seen at 6w2d and at 6w4d nothing. I ended up miscarrying.
I would for sure go for another ultrasound or two before even considering the other options they are going to offer you!! I hope everything works out ok in this situation!
I most certainly would get a second opinion there. Call your doctor again and tell them you want another one asap if possible.
The same thing had happened to me at 17 weeks. They could not find a heartbeat, but they did 3 separate ultrasounds to make sure of that, and then I waited anyway.
It is very possible that they could have made a mistake.
Its really hard to know what is going on in your case but try not to give up hope just yet. Was the baby seen on the 2nd US when this was done on your belly? You mention the technician couldn't find a HB, but was a baby found?
Will you be getting a follow-up US at your next appointment? When did you first find out you were pregnant and when was your last period?
