U can bash me all you want but I think the fact that u even asked this question is proof you're not ready to have a baby. But I do hope you have a healthy baby and smooth delivery for the child's sake

Not to be mean and all but at the end, no matter how much information you give a person, to educate them about the risk of marijuana they are going to do and believe what they want!.. At the end wether they make the right choice or not, it's on them if there child came out good, then good for them but if the child came out with problems then that's on them and there concience.. unfortunately you can only say so much to a person and it's up to them to take the advice or take it personal, but anyways good luck with what ever decision you chose too... Personally I wouldn't risk smoking or doing anything that can put my baby at risk Js!...

Parents are more likely to play and read to their children while high? I wouldn't want anyone around my child high, at all. And I read and play with my son all the time, and I don't smoke pot at all.

A girl I know smoked weed her entire pregnancy and her baby's lungs didn't develop. Every pregnancy is different but I wouldn't do it..anything can happen.

I don't think tasha_labruyere was trying to say if u smoke weed your baby will be smart.  She was just making an observation about her family.
Just saying..

also the placenta can be tested in lab and show drug use for up to 6 months if drug use is suspected.

From a medical stand point there are benefits and risks to smoking it in general (not pregnant). Pregnancy though is a time of severe changes not only to your body but your brain as well. There have been many studies of how a womans brain changes while pregnant to prepare for the proper care of that child after it is born. It is very dangerous to take ANY MEDICATION during pregnancy. ANY. There are NO safe medications just some with a less likely hood of causing problems. The placenta is a very special filter.. your blood does not go into the baby, the baby has its own blood. BUT what the placenta does is absorbe everything from your blood stream.. like a FILTER and that filter delivers straight into the unborn baby. Thus anything you take is sponged from your system and given to the baby. This is also how come people can gain no weight or loose weight but the baby grows fine. I think its fine to smoke for your own reasons while NOT pregnant though and dont judge people who do so responsibly.

Dammit just typed so much and then lost it all..  here's goes the retype. First off, my friend started smoking near the end of her 2nd tri and her daughter turned out fine. Research has neither proven or not proven the effects of pot on fetus's. But, research has shown that childrens parents who smoke(after the kid is alalready born), those kids are more likely to have a higher intelligence lvl then the kids who's parents didn't smoke. Because high parents are more likely or more often play and read with their children. Also, its shown that smoking while breastfeeding can dry up your milk. Which is what happened to my friend I wwas referring to earlier. So if u plan on breastfeeding I prolly wouldn't smoke. Personally.. I quit smoking pot and cigs the day I found out I was pregnant, and I choose not to smoke during the pregnancy cuz I don't want to take any chances for something as unimportant as pot.

If you don't read about pot and don't know enough about it to understand that it goes into your bloodstream, then it's irresponsible of you to post on a pregnancy website that its okay to smoke it while pregnant.

Smoking isnt good no matter what it is. Weed is way better then cigarettes but ur still liniting the oxygen to u and baby. If u can use other methods of getting medicated that would be better. I have my medical license to use medical marijuana due to several autoimmune diseases. And did alot of research on use of marijuana and pregnancy theres just not enough data for me to feel safe using during pregnancy.
Though i did find enough studies and research about effects of using and raising children. They suggest the mothee is calmer therfore kids calmer from moderate use. Not constant use.
So make ur own judgement does the risks out weigh the benefit. Having sever nausea and not keeping food down is bad if u cant get the proper nutrition, so that would be a reason. Kinda thing. Do ur own research make an educated discussion ur the mom u know whats best for u and ur little one.
Good luck

I'm sorry, and I'm sure I'll get feedback that says I'm being critical and negative, but I just read the reply above that asked if the baby even gets any of the weed smoke since you just inhale it into your lungs...  Seriously?  You do understand that the marijuana goes into your blood stream?  That's what makes you high.

Some hospitals is some states drug test every new mom. Some just test if they suspect drug use during pregnancy. If you test positive, they will take your baby away. Personally, I can't so how smoking pot would worth risking that.

The smoke goes to your lung yes but it also goes to your blood and your blood goes directly to your baby. smoking weed during your pregnancy is completely immature. if you can't quit for 9 months while you are support to be nurturing your child then you be rethinking your parenting. i don't think weed is bad and yes i have smoked plenty of times but Teresa are appropriate times for everything and doing it while you are prego is certainly not one of them. the fact that so many have commented like its no big deal is absolutely disgusting.

I had a friend that smoked weed while pregnant and her baby weighed around 4lbs. When you are pregnant you should want to take better care of yourself - quitting all your bad habits. if you don't it could be seen as selfish. Not judging just giving my personal opinion. Do you want your kids to know that while you were pregnant you made a poor decision to smoke and endanger his/her life? I just wouldn't take the chance. Best of luck to you though.
