Same with me, I just had my second baby on the 11th but I smoked with both of mine until my 29th week, nobody ever said anything to me about drug tests or anything, I'm sure me and the babies were tested tho since I have Medicaid but since I stopped when I did, it was enough time for the drugs to leave mine and my babies systems, and they are both healthy and fine, haven't had any problems at all, my first is a year old too, so I don't think anything is wrong with it, as long as you stop enough time before delivery so the drugs can leave your body before any tests if there are any done.

I agree with them, but i just wanted to say watch out you're going to get TONS of negative comments from people who know nothing about weed. I personally do smoke weed....like those girls said i will be quitting sometime before i give birth. But it helps with my nausea and headaches. Nothing will happen to your baby but SOMETIMES they do drug test and WILL send cps out but usually they will have to make sure your home is okay living conditions and what not.....it's not a bad thing to smoke. Cigs are by far WAYYY worse.

My cousin smoked through her pregnancy and still does today the baby started growing a tumor in his lungs so she had to get steroid shots while she was pregnant he was born with severe asthma and had to do breathing treatments every night.. he has gone through a lot of surgeries and is doing ok and would do better if his mom wouldn't smoke in the house Infront of him.

ANY smoke inhilation while pregnant increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome in babies, not only that, but some babies that are subjected to weed while pregnant have lower IQ's and higher mental retardation rate. Just because your baby is growing good, not showing any outward signs of defects while in the womb, or immediately after does NOT mean they are healthy.

Google effects of smoking marijuana while pregnant, this is just one of the many articles

What you need to be aware of, is the fact that a foetus gets all of its vital foodstuffs and nutrients from the body of the mother. In other words what you eat is what they eat, so if you are smoking marijuana, so too is your foetus. You wouldn’t give pot to a 10 year old, so you certainly should not allow an unborn infant to get high.

At the same time, smoking weed can interfere with the foetus' blood supply and starve them of oxygen. This can lead to all kinds of types of damage, including brain damage in severe cases. Often though it will simply result in the baby being born wit h a particularly low birth weight and small size. This then further puts the child at risk and leaves them susceptible to other conditions such as jaundice, infections and more. It has also been linked to cases of 'sudden infant death syndrome' whereby the child dies for seemingly no reason (this has been linked to all kinds of other conditions such as sleep apnea but is as yet not fully understood). Weed also kills brain cells, and while a healthy infant should replace those, it is certainly not something you would choose to occur in the womb and something that would not under healthy normal circumstances. Furthermore smoking weed also exposes your child to all of the other additives used in a spliff. These include things like tobacco which can cause heart problems and again limit the body's ability to transport blood and oxygen.

Do your research, don't just say ohh I smoke it, my baby is growing good, and so he/she is healthy, you need to educate yourself both ways. No judgement here, but you need to know NOT all babies are lucky.

is it even possible for ur baby to get ne of the weed smoke? I mean yeah ur smoking it but it.goes to ur lungs. and they dont breathe what u breathe do they? but besides that. my entire family except me and a couple others smokes weed. and they all did it while pregnant and nothing happened. I personally think it made the baby smarter all of the babys are super smart!

Also, just because the marijuana is out of your system, does not mean it's out of the babies, it takes much longer for it to leave a babies system than it does an adult, so that's something to keep in mind with random drug testing.

I had a friend that smoked weed while pregnant and her baby weighed around 4lbs. When you are pregnant you should want to take better care of yourself - quitting all your bad habits. if you don't it could be seen as selfish. Not judging just giving my personal opinion. Do you want your kids to know that while you were pregnant you made a poor decision to smoke and endanger his/her life? I just wouldn't take the chance. Best of luck to you though.

The smoke goes to your lung yes but it also goes to your blood and your blood goes directly to your baby. smoking weed during your pregnancy is completely immature. if you can't quit for 9 months while you are support to be nurturing your child then you be rethinking your parenting. i don't think weed is bad and yes i have smoked plenty of times but Teresa are appropriate times for everything and doing it while you are prego is certainly not one of them. the fact that so many have commented like its no big deal is absolutely disgusting.

Some hospitals is some states drug test every new mom. Some just test if they suspect drug use during pregnancy. If you test positive, they will take your baby away. Personally, I can't so how smoking pot would worth risking that.

I'm sorry, and I'm sure I'll get feedback that says I'm being critical and negative, but I just read the reply above that asked if the baby even gets any of the weed smoke since you just inhale it into your lungs...  Seriously?  You do understand that the marijuana goes into your blood stream?  That's what makes you high.

Smoking isnt good no matter what it is. Weed is way better then cigarettes but ur still liniting the oxygen to u and baby. If u can use other methods of getting medicated that would be better. I have my medical license to use medical marijuana due to several autoimmune diseases. And did alot of research on use of marijuana and pregnancy theres just not enough data for me to feel safe using during pregnancy.
Though i did find enough studies and research about effects of using and raising children. They suggest the mothee is calmer therfore kids calmer from moderate use. Not constant use.
So make ur own judgement does the risks out weigh the benefit. Having sever nausea and not keeping food down is bad if u cant get the proper nutrition, so that would be a reason. Kinda thing. Do ur own research make an educated discussion ur the mom u know whats best for u and ur little one.
Good luck

If you don't read about pot and don't know enough about it to understand that it goes into your bloodstream, then it's irresponsible of you to post on a pregnancy website that its okay to smoke it while pregnant.

Dammit just typed so much and then lost it all..  here's goes the retype. First off, my friend started smoking near the end of her 2nd tri and her daughter turned out fine. Research has neither proven or not proven the effects of pot on fetus's. But, research has shown that childrens parents who smoke(after the kid is alalready born), those kids are more likely to have a higher intelligence lvl then the kids who's parents didn't smoke. Because high parents are more likely or more often play and read with their children. Also, its shown that smoking while breastfeeding can dry up your milk. Which is what happened to my friend I wwas referring to earlier. So if u plan on breastfeeding I prolly wouldn't smoke. Personally.. I quit smoking pot and cigs the day I found out I was pregnant, and I choose not to smoke during the pregnancy cuz I don't want to take any chances for something as unimportant as pot.
