I don't have a doctor, just a midwife, and so far it's been really non-invasive. I haven't had a pap or anything, just the bloodwork, urine sample, nutrition advice, etc...and she set me up for the first ultrasound (the second is coming up soon). The bloodwork is important for determining whether you're low in anything like iron so that you can properly adjust your diet. They'll probably tell you to start taking a prenatal vitamin (with folic acid) if you haven't already. Mine told me to start taking vitamin D supplements (Canada doesn't have much sun) and omega 3 because I can't stomach fish right now. Congratulations and good luck. Don't worry, the bloodwork is painless as long as you have someone who knows what they're doing (Even if they aren't that good at it, you just get a pinch). And it's quick! So don't even think about it.
Do you know your blood type?
I am 5weeks amd 4days too lol.. due january the 5th. My first visit they did a vaginal ultra sound (because we thought we were losing baby) and that was IT! I was infuriated. Yes i too am DEATHLY scared of needles but i actually begged for them to take blood an do every test that they could lol.
I don't know about the notes but for profile pic you have to do it on the website. App won't let you.
Thanks! One more question on this app how do u get to ur notes or to add a profile pic? I can't find it
I think every doctor is different. My first appointment, I had an ultrasound, paperwork, Pap smear, and that's all. They'll also only do a Pap smear if you haven't had one before or you haven't had your yearly one yet. That's what mine did at least. It checks for abnormal cells on cervix, chlamydia, gonnohrea. I didn't get blood work done until my second appt, but like I said, they're all different! Good luck!
Pap smear, blood work, urine sample, paperwork and I got a ultrasound but I was 11 weeks and 2 days.
