Early Pregancy.... injecting Hormones?

I saw my doctor today. Confirmed pregnancy by ultra sound.  Still early. 3-4 weeks.  He gave me a perscription for a vaginal supository he wants me to inject nightly for 5 weeks.  I have had 2 miscarriages in the past (I have had one successful pregnnacy) and he said sometimes miscarriages occur due to low hormones. Progesterone maybe? Anyhow my husband and I arent sure if we should run out and get the perscription. Any thoughts??????????

It could be the pharmacy was out of the suppositories and substituted the caplets. I would definately talk to your doc tho, he probably prescrived the suppositories for a reason.

Hey Nickie...... Did you take the oral pills? Or the insert? (suppository) Just curious because my doc told me I would be inserting the progesterone and then when I got to the drug store and picked it up it was oral caplets.  I will start to take them as he has already left the office so I cant ask him why he told me one thing and gave me another.  Just wondering what you took.... Thanks!!

Hey believe me if your doctor prescribed it (progesterone especially) then it is for the well being! My doctor prescribed me the same thing and she told me that until the 12 week mark it is definitely important as it can cause miscarriage due to the low hormones :) Its gross but it is worth it all in the end :)

If your doctor prescribed it, it's for a good reason.  Many woman have had successful pregnancies after multiple miscarraiges simply by using progesterone supplements.  I'm not a doctor but I would advise that you go with what your doctors plan.  Progesterone is a naturally occuring hormone that helps sustain the pregnancy.
