Got mine stripped Monday and had my baby on Tuesday. I was 38-2.
Natashaxoxo a membrane or cervical sweep is only recommended for women past 37 weeks since it is used to help start contractions and the Labour process. It works for some women but not others. It really all depends on your body and if baby is ready or not. Out of my 3 kids I only received a sweep for one of my pregnancies because of how incredibly uncomfortable I was.
It isn't actually routine or needed ladies but you can ask most docs won't do it till after 37 weeks and it doesn't exactly help you dilate but is done in hopes to get contractions going to jump start labor, doesn't always work and is for sure making me feel miserable
Thanks ladies im praying mine work tomorrow I go at 11am an then I have a 2pm NST so ima walk the gallery while waiting for my NST appointment good luck to the mamas who already got it done :)
When do you start to get the sweep at what week and will it help dilate
what is this stripping of the cervix im 33 weeks so do I need to ask my doctor about this ?
I received a stretch and sweep at 38 week with my son. I was told I'd have him by the end of the week. An hour after the appt. My water water broke lol.
I had mine done Tuesday around 5pm felt sick and exhausted all yesterday and now have been having very strong contractions and cramping since 10pm last night haven't even been able to sleep I think I'm in early labor, so it def did something!
