thanks this helps a lot. I think the hospital stay in iowa is 2-3 days unless there are complications. I'm gnna be giving birth at the best hosptial in my state. I'm jst hoping my iron doesnt drop as bad as my moms did when she had me. She lost a full day cuz her iron dropped down to 6 and she lost a lot of blood. they had to give her a transfusion.

I packed alot the 1st time and hardly used any of it, mostly used what the hospital had. This time im only taking a bathrobe, slippers/extra socks, change of clothes and toiletries. And of course the babybook! :) for baby you pretty much just need the carseat and a going home outfit. The hospital provides everything else.

Depends how comfortable you wanna be. And whether or not you know how long you'll be there. No sense in packing 4 outfits if your hospital only requires 48hrs. Some of my numbers are going to be a little higher because I don't know if I'll need a c-sec and if I do, my stay will be longer.

Insurance card(s), hospital forms, and birthing plan if you have one

YOURSELF:
3-4pairs of socks, 2 bras and 2 sports bras(I'm not breast feeding), pj's (prlly sweats n a tee for me) for each night in case you ruin one from bleeding, 8-10 pairs of underwear if you don't want to use the ones they provide. And yes, double on those in case you leak through the night. 2-4 comfy outfits for during the day that will fit whatever size you were at your 5mo mark, flip flops for the shower of you choose.
Nursing pads, nipple cream, colace if the hospital doesn't provide a stool softener as a just in case, toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, tooth paste, soap, face wash, deodorant, chapstick, hair brush, gum bands/head bands, toothbrush, makeup, and pads(heavy duty overnight ones) if you don't wanna use the hospital's. Glasses or contacts if you wear either. You can bring a towel, rags, hair dryer, straightener, hairspray, and an extra pillow or two. Camera and batteries or charger for it. Phone and charger. You can bring baby book if you are doing one and they'll stamp the baby's feet for you.

FOR BABY:
car seat with head support or blankets to roll to support head, 3-4 onesies, 3-4 sleepers, a going home outfit, 3-4 socks, baby mittens to keep from scratching, hat(s) and weather appropriate gear for outside. So if it's supposed to be a little chilly or rainy, a couple extra blankets to cover baby and carseat. You can also add in a few swaddle/receiving blankets.

FOR HIM(if your S.O is staying):
3-4 outfits, 3-4 pairs of socks, 3-4 pairs of underwear, if he uses a different soap, then his man soap, deodorant, and depending how hairy he'd like to get, possibly a razor or clippers. You can also pack him a towel, extra pillow and blanket if you wanna be nice.

I ended up adding more than what I'm bringing just because I know not all hospitals provide what mine does and I also don't know what would keep you comfortable. You can add more, such as sugar free candy, computer, iPod, magazines, change for the vending machine(my insurance feeds both me and bf, so I don't need it and honestly I didn't bring anything like a computer and wasn't bored. I caught up on sleep, played with my baby, had visitors, and walked by their pond outside. Never thought to bring this extra stuff til I seen other people saying they'll be bringing it-again just adjust to what you'll be comfortable with. You won't be away from home for long)

I'm 34 weeks as well and packed mine already only because my other 2 cane at 36 weeks and they were both c-section so my stay is a little longer but mine has some comfy hospital cloths( not a fan of gowns) comfy undies, nursing bras, nursing oads, lanolin ( if you plan to nurse, coming home outfit, shower stuff, small robe, hair ties, flip flops, baby blanket and coming home outfit, and I think that's it lol

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and the best thing is to google hospital bag check list and they have tons of little list you can customize and print off so you don't forget anything.
I packed an outfit to wear in labor, a change of clothes for after labor and going home, nursing bras without underwire, underwear, Pads, make up and chap stick, also my own shower stuff like towel wash cloth shampoo ect.
Don't forget to pack a change of clothes for your SO and bathroom items for him as well.
I know I have forgotten alot but my pregnancy brain is making it hard for me to remember everything lol
