need advice!

Okay, its kinda just a vent and a little question... I work in a casino, very smoky environment! I am 15 weeks and I feel my job isn't safe! I just want everyones opinion... I use chemicals to clean bathrooms, I push around a 50 lb cart and clean ashtrays.. I do have a second job where I am a receptionist.. this job at the casino is wearing me out, I leave almost everyday in tears from all the pain im in! What do you guys think I should do?!

Hey there. I worked in a casino with my 2nd pregnancy except my job was cocktail serving n the nightclub and high limit. I worked long and late hrs, carried heavy trays, and was required to wear 6 inch heals on my boots!! Very tiring let me tell u. I walked on slippery floors and dealt with drunk ppl. Although the $$ was amazing i couldn't do it anymore.  Try asking to be transferred during ur pregnancy and if they wont u can actually take a leave of absence which ur dr can write u out for. Yoi need to do whats best for ur body right now. Good luck hun.

I can wear gloves, however I'm not sure abt the facemask... I do feel I should go but I'm not sure how I would make ends meet... my other job is three days a week making min. Wage.. but... my child's health is so much more important to me! Thank you ladies for your feedback! I'm gonna talk to second job and see if full time is available!

I agree, this is a choice only you can make, and I'm not sure about your financial circumstances and how that figures into your decision...can you make it okay without the casino job. I do think the chemicals are an issue so gloves and a facemask would be a really good idea, the second-hand smoke is harder to combat so would probably be the thing to make me go, if I was in your position. It also sounds like very physical work, so it might be harder for you to do as you get further along. Hope your work situation gets better for you.

I think you have to do what YOU feel is best for your baby.  Second hand smoke is just-as dangerous for your baby as if you were smoking the cigarettes yourself.  You could get around the fumes of the cleaners by wearing a face mask but the further along you get the harder it will be to do the duties of your job.  I think you should talk to you obgyn about the risks associated with the things you are exposed to at the casino.
