I have pcos and didn't ovulate last month.  I'm taking prometruim to build the lining of my uterus so I am having periods.  Anyway my question is should I be concerned if there is NO LH LINE at all when I test with the  opks?  I did get a faint but easily visible line after about 10-12 mins.  But no line at all in the 3-5 min time line.  These tests do say wait a full 10 mins before determining a neg result.  I know these are neg results but should I be concerned that my level of LH is ssoooooo low?

I have an ultrasound on wednesday the 9th.  I had a blood test a few days ago to check for insulin and glucose levels.  The doc said she didn't want to do the metformin unless the bloodsugar coordinated with the need for the med. (yes frustrating I know!)  As for  testing with the opk's goes, In the past I wasn't having any trouble and in dec, jan, feb, and march I got def. ++'s but I tested nearly every day in April and got no + the whole month.  I didn't get one in may either because april's cycle was so delayed.  That is when I started  the prometrium.  I am now on cycle day 8 and will be testing daily to see if I catch anything this month.  I use single pack test stips that you dip from early pregnancy tests.com since they are like 70 cents each.  I hope to get off of this roller coaster soon and conceive.

OPK's are no good with PCOS. It is pointless to use them as you will get no result or many days or weeks of a positive. If you have PCOS even with a period does not mean you are ovulating. You need to be on metformin and most likely Clomid to be able to O.

I know many doctors who try the progesterone which you most likely need also but never get results. You need to have your ovulation confirmed by ultrasound and blood work to make sure you are Oing and if not he needs to be more agressive with the other meds.

Hey there -- I don't think it's a bad thing that you are getting a faint to no line result as long as at some point throughout your cycle you get a positive. I agree with rdh, the digitals are much easier to determine...have you used opks in the past and that's how you know you didn't ovulate?

I'm not sure what you're already doing, but everywhere I've read says not to use first morning urine and that your LH shows up in the afternoon so testing around 2pm is a good idea. Last month was the first month I took my opks paired with clomid, and I used the answer brand 20pk box, I bought two boxes and tested 2x a day every day after my period. I ended up getting my first positive on CD 18...wasted lots of tests but I was happy that there was no doubt that I missed it or not.

I know if you have PCOS it can be very hard to track your lh surge! Are you sure that you are testing at the right time of your cycle?? Is it possible that you may have missed the surge and did not know???

I always hated the OPK's with lines. I had much better luck with the "smiley face" ones. Way more pricey but sooooo worth to me!

Good luck and I hope you catch your surge! By the way you can still BD every other day to ensure you get those little swimmers there just in case you never get a positive reading on your OPK's!
