pap smears

Do i have to have a pap done while i am prego????

no you do not have to have a pap. i waited until after my baby because even if it was abnormal i would not do anything about it while i was pregnant anyway. They test for group b strep at 36 weeks and this is a simple swab test

Yes, at my ob's office it's mandatory for all women prego or not to get a pap done. Like others said it catches diseases and bacterias that should be treated.

It does not cause miscarriages and I've been with the same man for 5 almost 6 years and still had them done.

They don't always test that late. I was tested twice. Once when I was 20 some odd weeks and again when I was 37 weeks. Just depends on the clinic.

I want to add that the reason women miscarry is mostly due to genetics or a uterine anomoly or a hormonal problem. A simple swab of your closed cervix isn't going to do anything except possibly make you feel uncomfortable.

No, a pap smear cannot cause miscarriage.

i have been with the same partner for 16 yrs and have never had a bad result on paps..... i've heard it can bring on m/c?

yes! They test for strep b, and STI and any infections.
