Hey hon, I took a look at the pic and i looks like it is exzema. My 3 kids have it. try putting some eucerin cream on his cheeks, it will moisturize the skin without the regular lotions that contain fragerence. See if that helps, if not you may need to go to the ped's and get a steroid cream.
I've noticed, both with Daniel and Gil, a bit of rosiness in the cheeks just before a tooth cuts through....it's not a rash per se, but that could very well be what it is and what it looks like for Matthew. I've heard of babies getting diaper rash from teething (yes....sounds weird, I know).
This is soooo exciting! I was pretty stoked when Gil cut his first one at almost 6 months...and now he's got 2...and is working on some more :)
his gums are prolly swollen so give him some tylenol and see if the spots get lighter...swelling affects blood flow and can cause dermal flushing like we talked abt :)
it isnt red or dry, just red under the skin. He doesnt have a diaper rash either....he's never had one in his life so far lol im diaper changing crazy haha. i actually thought about putting diaper rash cream on his face or lanolin but i think im gonna leave it alone for today and see what happens
it looks similar to what i had when little, and DS got it when he was teething at 15 months, my mom described it being sort of like diaper rash but on the face and she used diaper rash cream on my face lol. with DS i used A&D on it, orajel for his gums and baby tylenol when he got fussy.
Has he been drooling alot since he started teething? and does it feel dry to the touch or just red under the skin? Alot of times it will be accompanied by diaper rash. If its dry i would try a&d on it to keep it moist. It also looks similiar to my eczema, but its hard to tell if its dry or not. You can always call his pediatrician and see what he would suggest. if you google teething rash theres alot of different things that come up. With DS once his tooth cut and it wasnt bothering him as much the rash faded.
Goodluck!
I'd just keep an eye on it for now, if it's not bugging him. You said he has sensitive skin, maybe it's from drooling and having toys around his face so much recently...
Not dumb at all, just remember to cherish the last few toothless moments, one will come in then he'll be two years old in pain from two year molars, and you'll think "when did he stop being a baby, where did the time go?"
nothing new...he was sleeping in the front pack when we were at DF's parents house last night for sunday dinner...which is new...but he was in it the other day at the beach too and nothing happened then. He does have sensitive skin in general which is why im not over the moon with worry and he had it all through the night so he's obviously ok....i meen its not affecting his breathing and it doesnt hurt him to touch it...im just really curious about it...it looks rather pathetic and i was wondering if maybe it could be from teething? I havent given him anything for the pain other than various textured toys to shove in his mouth lol because he has been doing fairly well...only whiny here and there...just drooling and chewing on EVERYTHING...he grabs anything he can get his hands on and stuffs it in his mouth...toys...my phone...the remote...paci's...my fingers...his fingers...lol ANYTHING. everything has been thoroughly sanitized multiple times in our house the last few days haha. im so excited!!!!! i cant wait until its here!!! i want to shout it from the roof tops ...how dumb is that?
AWWW!!! SO CUTE! Not sure really what it is. Elijah didn't get a rash when he was teething. It looks like rashes Elijah does get though, they usually go away on their own...Elijah gets so many different rashes so much I don't even worry about them anymore, that sounds horrible but he's a walking rash! They look like his skin got irritated by something, you're 100% sure he hasn't come into contact with something new? Have you been giving him anything for the pain?
fyi- its even more bright red in person....its really really red. it looks like when babies get super red cheeks from a really bad fever...but he doesnt have a fever.
