Did she harm baby? Or was rude to you and family?

My lo was in nicu for four days but I saw those nurses work miracles. The first time we went to feed her/have touch time after they took her, it was early early morning on thanksgiving. The nurses had already taken her picture (and all the other babies' pictures) and scrapbooked them a "my first thanksgiving" page. The little things help so much.

My son was only in there for two and a half weeks but thats long enough for any MOTHER. its hard. its heart breaking. and depending on thr babies problem.. (MY SON COULDNT MAINTAIN OXYGEN) by himself and lived on a michine. I stayed in the room every single day. Made my room very homey got up for every single touch time. And yes SKIN TO SKIN iS very important. My son was four days old befpre i held him. You will get depressed. Specially if the baby is in there a good period of time. See ypur ob for depression pills because like i did. I gott down on myself. And because i didnt deal with it, it got worse. And ladt but not least just remember that ypur baby atm has THE BEST baby sitter ever right now. It was so hard for me with my daughter ibhad no scares problems nothing. Justvthe regular momma scares like sids. Or choking or being dropped. But with him i treated him like he was glass. I didnt even want to touch him because i was so histaricle that id hurt him or make his condition worse then it already was. The nicu had to teach me to be a mom to my son because my anxioty was off the wall. My son being in the nicu did a number on me. I had night mares. And STILL do because of all his monitors.  But everyone can do it. And babies are strong little people capeable of more then we think! Good luck momma!! And best wishes! Im so sorry for what ypur going through.

I had my baby at 26 weeks. She has to be in the nicu for atleast two more months. It was so hard to leave with out her. I cried for a long time. But thankfully my daughter has a private suite so I'm able to spend the night with her. Im just now able to do kangaroo care with her and I love it. It was hard not being able to hold my baby or kiss her for a lil over a month. But this is one of the hardest journeys I have to go through. But the care , team my daughter has are great and very helpful but I had to fire one of her nurses due to numerous incidents with her but other then her I love the staff here

It's hard how early is your baby? My son was 6 weeks early total surprise. I had I pretty easy labor for it being my first. My son was in the hospital for 8 days due to spityness and havung trouble maintaining body temp. It's scary and you feel helpless.  But my husband was amazing.

I actually didn't get to hold my baby until later that evening. They put him on my chest just after he was born but that was it. My husband held him before I did. They took him right away. One nurse told me when I first went to visit him that I couldn't hold my baby and that he had to be in the isolet. It was hard. Then that night I had a wicked bad dream woke up crying and my husband took me to see my baby. So their was this nurse who was amazing. We talked and she asked me if I held him. I said no they won't let me. So she goes "sit" and she put my baby in my arms. I will always be great full to her.

So, I have to say other than that first nurse who told me I couldn't hold my son. Everyone was great in the nursey. Very supportive and we were their every step of the way. I was actually discharged before he could go home. But they let us stay in an over flow room so we could be with him. Once they filled we had to go home.

It was so hard leaving my baby but we learned everything and the nurses let us change him and feed him when we were their. My husband learned how to give our baby a bath their. They believe in what's called kangaroo care, which means parents are very hands on. My son is almost 5 years old now and is amazing :)

We are very luck our son only had the eating issues (he had a feeding tube) I was 8 weeks early and had breathing problems when I was born so.

I hope you have a great support system and caregivers.  I wish healthy vibes to your baby and strengthen to you during this time stay strong momma! Your baby will be home sooner than you know.

NEVER go in there upset! (You're baby's monitors will start going off when they feel your sadness)

Do a lot of skin to skin! It helps with the bonding. A lot.

Bring all your baby's cute little things into the nicu. (My son wore different outfit everyday for 3 months)

Make it as homie as they'll let you. (Teddy bears, baby blankets, name sign, ect)

If you can't make it to the nicu, call them. The nurses working with your baby will tell you anything and everything you want to know. (Even how many poops baby has taken)

It's hard. You'll have great days.. but you'll have twice as many horrible ones. A lot of nicus have groups so you can talk to other mothers. If yours has that, GO!

My son was in nicu thankfully it was only 5 days. Try not to stress remember the doctors and nurses are very well trained. I personally spent all the time I could there. It helped seeing the progress he was making :) what is your baby in the nicu for? Did they give you an estimate how long? I was told 2 weeks
