Do the lbs really matter?

I know I'm not back to my pre pregnancy weight, even 20 months after Eiljah's birth. But does it really make that big a difference when TTC? I'm going through physical therapy because a dr FINALLY listened to me about my back, and I honestly blame my spinal from my c-section 100%. We've been TTC 6 months, if AF shows on April 3 it'll be starting my 7th month TTC. I'm limited to basically walking for exercise because of my back, and even then I can't do it for very long without taking a break...I'm so sick of not being able to exercise to lose weight...I want to lose 30 lbs, but it seems impossible. I don't eat out often, and don't eat a lot of junk food...after I had Elijah I lost a few pounds but that's it. I gained 35-40 and barely lost anything...I thought most of it was water weight because I watched what I ate, and was literally all belly until the last couple months when I was swollen EVERYWHERE! I didn't eat a lot of junk food when I was pregnant, and walked a good bit to try to keep somewhat in shape. Any info for losing weight, TTC when heavier, anything would be helpful. I'm about 5'5 and 175...I was 140-145 when I got pregnant with Elijah in Oct 07.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm really hoping that after I have this baby I will have the umph to get my lazy butt on the treadmill or outside and walk.  I did that after baby # 4.  I walked an hour a day 5 days a week plus some walking at parks and stuff on the weekends.  In 5 mos I lost like 45 lbs.  I got down to 142 and felt great...but stress and a desk job brought it all back :(

I'm above the range for mine, but I was in the large frame weight for my first pregnancy. I don't know what frame I'd fit under, but either way...I'm just going to keep trying and go to physical therapy for my back and see if I can't get to where I can do more, I still feel like if I could lose weight I'd be better off just because I wouldn't have as much to lose, would be able to find more clothes, and I'd feel better about myself.

I've had doctors show me charts and I think I found it online awhile back. Here's a chart i found. The one I was shown didn't specify different "frame sizes" like this does.  But if gives you an idea.

BUT keep in mind that these are only numbers.  Just becuaes you aren't in the range doesn't mean you aren't healthy.  I was so much more healthy at 183 several years ago than I was at 172 when i got pregnant this time.  Back then we were in okinawa and spent out weekends at the park and other things and i did a ton of walking.  I don't get much exercise now and I can REALLY feel a difference.

I've had "extra baggage" with most of my pregnancies.  The average healthy weight range for my height is 118-150.  With my 4th pregnancy I was 153 when i got pregnant, with my 7th I was 178, this time with my 8th I was 172 when I got pregnant.  Those are weights going by MY scale which is usually about 8 lbs LOWER than doctors scales.  So In my case weight did nothing to hinder me getting pregnancy.  But I come from a long line of extremely fertile women so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks for sharing! It's good to see someone else who hadn't lost their baby weight have a successful pregnancy. It gives me hope that I can get pregnant even if I haven't lost the weight. I am trying, but it's not working so well.

I was 176 (5'4) when I got pregnant the second time (40 pounds heavier than when i got prego with my first) and it happened the first month.  I think weight can play a part when one is considered clinically obese but don't quote me.  I know a couple who ttc for 4 years (she was 285lbs).  They figured they were unable to have children so they adopted 2.  Well, a couple of years later and 100 lbs lighter she got pregnant.  They now have 2 adopted children and 2 blood children.

I am currently losing weight.  As of Sun. I had lost 5.5 pounds in 3 weeks which I am very okay with. I figure if I lose 6-8 pounds a month (want to lose 40 lbs) I am doing well.  I don't necessarily calorie count but I do ensure I am not overeating.  I eat a good breakfast (2 scrambled eggs, 1 whole wheat toast with a thin spread of pb or honey and 1/2 banana).  This will keep me full until lunch.  I then eat soup and sandwich for lunch.  Now, if my soup does not incorporate any protein (to keep me full), i will make a pb sandwich or egg salad sandwich.  I will eat a snack (yogurt with granola or piece of fruit) before dinner and then eat a good dinner.  If it's pasta I make sure my salad is larger than the pasta.  I eat a snack around 7:30.  I don't eat anything after 8pm. I eat everything but in moderation.  I probably could've lost more weight but I want to do it right.  Not eating won't do me any good.  This way is working for me right now so I am going to stick with it.  If I get stuck then I will change a few things.

There is also a weight loss forum if you haven't already joined.  They are very knowledgable and helpful on there.

sorry...didn't proof read.  hopefully this makes sense.  PM me if you have any questions.

Good luck!
