I know I should be in the hospital within 24 hours of my water breaking

But is it possible that your water breaks and you dont start to get contractions in those 24 hours? Or are contractions sure to start within that time... cause I feel like if my water breaks I wont know and if I dont get contractions I womt know to go to the hospital and I dont wanna beat risk of infection

I had to get put on pitocin because I was not contracting after my water broke. I had the big gush so it was obvious that was what had happened. It is important that if you suspect anything you call your doctor or l&d to get a medical opinion. Just go in if something doesn't seem right.
