Yeah usually you can feel yourself tighten when you do it without having to feel with your figures.
I went to my birthing class in April and they said that they no longer reccomend doing kegels. That squatting is way more effective and kegels can actually be a disadvantage. Just what I recently learned

My anus and vagina both tighten when I do kegels. I dont know how to do one without the other. And I would disagree about it being a disadvantage, when I was giving birth I had great control of my vaginal muscles and pushed very effectively.
I don't know about that. There's a perineal massage that you can do to reduce ur chances of tearing during birth. You can look that up. But from what I know, they no longer reccomend doing kegels. If it hurts you to do squats then don't do them :( you shouldn't put yourself through pain! Lol.
That's just what I learned from hospital and my OB. Sooooo... Just giving information that I've been given.
