tmi question..s/p delivery

sorry ladies but i got a question i need an asnwer to..lol..i understand u r supposed to bleed for awhile after delivery even after a csection which is how i deleivered.but at this point i have stopped bleeding and am having like a gooey yellowish/gold discharge..is this normal????i dont remember this with my first child but it has been many years.nothing is bothering me as far as pain or smell or anything so i dont think i have any sort of infection but i was just curious if this has happened to anyone else.i was also wondering if anyone could tell me the actual reasoning behind having to wait 6 weeks to regain a sex life if u delievered via csection.i know ur bleeding and need to wait for that to end but ifthat ends sooner is it still unsafe?is there something medical that would actually or could actually go wrong with u,im just wondering becaudse with valenitnes day coming up and that being exactly one month from my delivery date the idea of being with my husband is nice.but if theres a chance i could mess something up i will hold off until the 6 week mark.but i know i have heard of woman finding out they r pregnant at there 6 week check up so not everyone waits apparently...

For me I delivered vaginally and at my 5 week post partum check when the dr did an exam I was still SUPER tender and thought if that hurt there was NO way I'd want to have sex with my husband...  We waited until 7 weeks post delivery and that was fine.  My girlfriend who had a c-section was told 'nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks' after the baby was born.  I think it was b/c of infections...  I was told to take baths - often actually to help with the healing for me.

With the discharge I didn't have anything like that - I bled for about 3 weeks ish and then it tapered off and kind of lingered/spotted for a few days.  Are you nursing?  The discharge could be your body trying to get back on a regular cycle maybe...?

I hear ya on wanting to be with your DH for V-day - guess you'll have to be creative and find other ways?!!

i did not experience that kind of discharge after my c-sec.

as for sex, they really do want you to wait 6 weeks. Tons of people will come on here and tell you they had sex sooner and they were fine, and i'm sure they were. That doesn't mean the doctors are wrong in advising you to wait. The risk is 2 fold for those of us who had c-sections. The first is infection. My OB wouldn't even let me swim, take a bath, use a tampon, etc... for the 6 weeks for the same reason. I guess that since everything inside isn't healed and closed up, bacteria can travel up there easier. The second reason would be risk of incision rupture. You just had major abdominal surgery. Even if it's looking healed on the outside, your muscles are not healed yet.
