early scan tommorow because of severe cramps

Hi all,
I found out a week ago that me and my partner are expecting our first child, we have been trying for nearly 2 years so we are over the moon.
I went to the doctors Friday as is been experiencing really severe cramping, on and off for 5 days , exactly Like the ones I experience when I come on my period, as I suffer from very bad period pains. But I've been having no spotting blood or anything. But the doctor insisted that I needed an early scan ,I'm about 6 weeks.
I'm really terrified about tommorow I'm just fearing the worst. My partner says I'm worrying for nothing as cramping is normal and mine aren't going be mild as my period cramps arent. Is he right or am I best preparing myself?

Cramoing is perfectly normal this early. But its good that you are getting it looked at. Back in sept I was 6wks with a nagging pain in my groin come to find out the baby was ectopic and my cyst was 7cm.  Unless you have bleeding or spotting I wouldnt worry.

I'm also a first time mum and like you have had some quite sore cramps etc. my midwife however told me that cramping is all perfectly normal, even if it does hurt an awful lot! Also I had an unrelated dating scan at six Weeks, and got to see a tiny flicker of a heartbeat. You can't really see much though. But yeah, just remember you're growing inside to make room for baby, and all that stretching can hurt from time to time. Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy!

I have cramps too from the beginning, all the way til 17weeks plus tummy ache in between. But everything is fine from all my U/S. It's normal to have period like champs.. I'm surprise your doctor want to give you a scan since in a lot of cases it really is too early to see anything. Having said that, I did got my first scan at 6 weeks because we through it was my 8 weeks, my cycles are longer and not very regular. So the doctor didn't know I was only 6 weeks until she started the U/S. We did manage to find a tiny heartbeat so I do court my blessings, otherwise I would had got send home full of worries until the next scan. Most of the time 8 weeks is when they confirm the pregnancy once they found the heartbeat.
So try to relax when you go in, everything is going to be fine :)

Perfectly fine. I kept asking as at my 12 week scan the cyst was 5cm big! I was lucky as at around 16 (guessing as this is when the pain stopped) it disappeared. Some burst or if they get too big can be removed through key hole surgery. I'm currently 31 + 2 days

Pregnancy can cause cysts to form on the overies. I had one on my left and it caused really painfull cramps all the way up till around 16 weeks. A piece of advice I would give is don't worried if you don't see anything. At 6 weeks there may only be a sac so will probably ask you to return at around 9
