visiting the maternity ward

Ive been told that its a good idea to schedule a visit to the maternity ward where you're going to have your baby delivered. I was wondering how many of you had and when would be a good time to do it? Im delivering at a different hospital instead of the one where Ive had my other kiddos.

Yes. I'm in brissy though. I have a 2.5 year old and am due 14th may. The hospital I go to just had a big renovation and the rooms are beautiful. I had to be booked in by 12 weeks to guarantee a spot. It's a specialty maternity hospital north side. Am being booked in for another csection.

Im actually going to visit the maternity ward at my hospital tomorrow im a ftm and my aunt did it before me and said it was a good idea. But idk much about it just yet but I feel like its a good idea so your not heading in there and not knowing what you can and can't do and get any questions you have out of the way so your not asking em as your going into labor.
I had to set up the appointment myself and tell them how many people I'd be brining on the tour but that might just be my hospital and im 33 weeks and 3 days along so it doesn't really matter whenever you feel comfortable going and doing that type of thing I feel like I should have done it earlier cuz being on my feet for too long kills my back.

In Australia we have to book in the hospital and they take us through the ward then, show you where delivery rooms. I booked in over the phone and was told to go up and have a look. I had my son at this hosy 5 years ago and its all been renovated so im keen to see the ward although i think il run out if time with only 2 weeks left.

I'd like info on this too. And do you call the hospital and get it set up or does your doctor do it?
