Back Labor

I have a history of preterm labor and incompentent cervix - went for my weekly appointment and told my dr how crappy I have been feeling.. A couple times an hour my breath is taken away - for like 20 seconds and then I can breathe again .. lower back killing me and pain in my pelvic floor and upper thighs... He examined me and I was having a pretty hard uterine contraction  (which have been peppered in with all the other symptoms.. just less frequent only a handful in a couple of hours but strong enough I stop what I am doing and breathe through it) - he feels I pulled through my cerclage - they can only find the entry of the stich - not the ending and he felt that I was dialating but my cervix is so short from my leep he could not get a great positions - so off to L & D I went.  Hooked up to the monitors they could see what appeared to be small contractions - reguarly - but my issue is I was having horrible back cramps while those little bumps were appearing on the machine - if felt like I was standing upright and someone came from behind and kicked me with all their might in my small of my back.  Finally after IV fluids and being there for 4 hours with no end in sight ...I told them I was feeling better and begged to go home.  My dr relucktanly let me go.  Before I headed to L&D I was given my weekly progesterone shot which the days leading up to I get really crampy and some contractions and every week the crampiness and contractions get worse... then I get my shot and feel better within a few hours - feel great for 4 days and the ickiness starts up again... My cervix looked good at my last us - but that was 2 days after my shot... I am going to schedule my next 2w us a day or two before I am due for my shot to see if my cervix is really behaving or if the shot just makes it seem that way for a couple of days... SORRY for rambeling.. any thoughts - could that have been back contracations (my whole back curled up pushing up my belly and was so tight I could not breathe - every time this happened the baby's heartrate dropped from 160-150's to very low 130s...mid 120s...   OH.. and they reexamined me in L&D and she too could not tell if I was dialated or not - she felt it open, then close... top of stitch... I guess the only way to be sure is another us.

Thanks again!
Mel

I would say that if you have had these contractions then you definitely need to be monitored and watched very closely by your doctor. It is better to be safe than sorry def =)
