I had a natrual child birth with my 1st, I admit it was not by choice but it did help already being 7cm when I got to the hospital and only being in labor for 7hrs and pushed for 9mins and she was here. After delivering I got up and walked to the nursery to see my baby and then walked to my room the recovery time was great. Now its my goal to go natural again this pregnancy as someone else said its meant to be this way and you can do it if you really want to. If you cant handle it dont feel disappointed in asking for medication you know how much your body can take, best of luck!

hey there,
i used raspberry leaf tea the entire last month, three cups a day, religiously. it helps tone your uterus and prepares it for labour. you know how braxton hicks prepares your body for labour, by adding the tea it helps tone your uterus so that contractions are a bit more effective.
i also did perineum stretches, you can only do this with your first child, though i will get my husband to help me a do a few so i remember the sensation. its an interesting stretch and i didn't quite know when i did it if it was a good idea or not. but now, now i recommend it to any first time mother. especially one that wants to go natural. i recommend doing some research on it to see if its for you or not. but for for me, it really helped me to not shy away from the pain. also, i didn't tear or rip. it really helped me and i absolutely recommend it.
the other thing was to remember to not tense up during contractions and to let them do their job. like everyone says, its really hard and you'll start the contraction tense and then tell yourself, stop fighting, let it happen and relax a bit.
best of luck and yes, research is very important.

Haha that pushed me too!! My sister had both her kids, and got an epidural at 3cms before her water broke and she's like you'll never beat that. My mom and sister and husband went in with me and my mom said you did WAY better than your sister, haha!

I think you can do it. Pain is only temporary. I am also going to go all natural no pain meds or epidural. I have always wanted a water birth since I can actually remember. Just make sure you have an awesome support team with you, and they can remind you how great your doing and tell you that you can make it through. You can also ask the doctors and nurses not to offer you anything unless its really necessary for you and baby. But what put the icing on the cake for me to really be set on natural was the movie pregnant in america.

It's not a myth that problems and complications can arrive from an epidural, I think I was more worried about permanent back damage (although I'm sure it's rare) than the temporary pain. I'm not knocking anyone for getting an epidural, either, a LOT of women I know have got it and loved it, and if it makes labor more enjoyable, that's what it's all about!!

Natural is probably best but don't feel bad if you need some help.  Labour is indescribable pain.  I had an epidural with my first (requested after 14 hours...labour and pushing was 23 hours) and had fentynyl with my second (which just takes the edge off).  You can do it if you put your mind to it!

I had an epidural, n I don't regret that, b/c I was induced n forcep as well, I would be dead without epidural, also its a facility for us women to use, I would not call someone brave but take a lotttttttttt if pain, v rather live in rural areas then, I m not judging neone, its my personal opinion..I would recommend epidural to everyone...n also its all myths that somthing terrible happen to ur back, I m perfectly fine:)....hopefully I didn't offend neone....thanks ladies:)

I was in labor for 17 hours and pushing for three, my son cam out 9lbs 12oz I did it with no meds, I was terrified and in so much pain but I told my grandma I was going natural and she passed away a month before I went into labor, and knowing I promised her that made me get through it. You have to relax like everyone has said and you will make it through I promise women have been doing it for ever and, in the end it makes you feel like a stronger woman, if you can get through labor then you can do anything, and just think your doing it for your baby watever you take they take, its the first obstacle as a parent you have many more to come.

Honestly, I had a tattoo on my ribs too, allllll the way up my left side (I didn't think it hurt either), but it is nothing like childbirth at all, haha. I don't think comparing a tattoo to childbirth is comparable, it's a different kind of pain.

there was a gorl on here who posted about the pain and said she had a tattoo on her ribs. I too have a tattoo from the top of my right breast all the way down my rib cage and that didnt hurt me at all I also have a very high pain tolerance

The one thing I can say is when you feel a contraction, just relax your body and let it happen, don't fight against it, or tense up, or scrunch up because it hurts. It's VERY hard to do, but once you learn to do that, and breathe through your contractions it helps a TON! I got to 8cms with no pain medicine and planned on doing it naturally when they lost my sons H/B and I ended up with an emergency c-section. I'm 22w4d with my 2nd and will be trying naturally this time again as well! Go in with an open mind, and CONFIDENCE that you can do it!! Because you can, it is going to hurt, of course, but the pain is NOT forever, and you'll be holding your little one after, you won't even remember the pain, honest, because some of us are crazy enough to do it 2 or 3 times! ;)

I love seeing this! Not that I judge women who chose pain meds but our bodies were designed for this! I took a Bradley method class for my first. If you can't afford a class like that then just the book. It's basically about havin a birth partner and knowing stages o labor ect. I went natural with my son 17 hours and he was born posterior. If I can do it (I'm a huge whiner) you can do it!!

Hi i had no pain relief at all. I think that mainly you need ti be prepared for the pain. I was in labor for 8hrs. It didnt seem that long. Once u get to pushing u sort of push through the pain esp when u know a few more pushes an ull have ur baby. Im 13wks now with my second and im a bit more relaxed about the labor this time cos i know ive done it once without pain relief and can do it again. Depends on the sort of pain u can handle. Dont be hard on urself if at any point u need meds labors different for everone. Good luck. X

Research research research!!! Trust your mind and your body!! Don't let ANYONE talk.you out of it!! Your body was made for this...embrace the pain and with each contraction know its closer to you meeting your baby...I'm 21 and I'll be going natural next month!! I've been preparing myself...I'm a ftm as well 27days left
