Hi,
How are you? While there is no definite cure for chron's disease and the condition is marked by periods of improvement followed by flare-ups of symptoms, it is very important to stay on medications long-term to try to keep the disease symptoms from returning.
No specific diet has been shown to improve or worsen symptoms in Crohn's disease and specific food problems may vary from person to person. As for medications, aside from those mentioned above, you can take medications to help with the symptoms like loperamine to treat very bad diarrhea and acetaminophen for mild pain. However, drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen may make your symptoms worse.
If medicines do not work, a type of surgery called bowel resection may be needed to remove a damaged or diseased part of the intestine or to drain an abscess but removing the diseased portion of the intestine does not cure the condition. Hello,
Chron’s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). You should eat a well-balanced, healthy diet and avoid foods that worsen diarrhea and gas symptoms. Eat small amounts of foods and not heavy three meals a day. Avoid high-fiber foods, fatty, greasy or fried foods and sauces, foods that you know cause you gas, such as beans, spicy food, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, raw fruit juices and citrus fruits and limit dairy products.
Medicines prescribed for Crohn’s include fibre supplements, Aminosalicylates (medicines that help control mild to moderate symptoms), corticosteroids, medicines such as azathioprine or 6-mercaptopurine and biologic therapy like Infliximab and adalimumab in severe cases.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
