I want a baby! =( how to get my husband on board?

Hi I'm 35 years old and I want a baby so bad! My husband and I are getting back to normal after a 1 year of a rocky marriage.  We have been married for 5 1/2 years. Like I said I'm 35 and not getting younger =( Any ideas on how I should approach the subject? Thank you!

Well, just say, "Hey, how do you feel about us having a child?" However he responds will tell you how to proceed.  If he says "no way" then you know he's probably going to either be totally opposed or hard to convince.  If he seems more ambivalent,  then you have a better shot, but the first step is finding out where he stands.

I would give the rocky marriage recovery a bit more time to heal.  You want that fully in a great place before having a baby as babies put stress on a relationship and can cause spouses to drift as mom gets into baby care and dad is doing his own thing.  so, be patient and make sure the relationship is truly fully recovered in my opinion.

So, what have your discussions about children been in the past?  You've been together a good deal of time now so I'm sure the topic has come up.  I always recommend before marriage that couples are on the same page regarding things like desiring children.

If for some reason, you two haven't ever discussed this before---  you should be able to chat about things.  Communication is so key in a relationship.

so, I guess if you are afraid to talk to him and communicate about this very fundamental issue of being a parent or not, that worries me about the relationship in general.

You two have to be able to talk to each other openly.  That's a basic.  good luck hon

Ha, I'm just going to say that having a baby should be a thoughtful, thought out decision between man and woman.  Try talking about it before sex so that he will feel he is part of the decision.  Talk about what having a baby will look like for you both, if you'll still work, etc.  Some churches require this discussion between couples before they will marry them and I don't think that is a bad idea so there are no 'surprises'.  good luck

Hon, I wouldn't just focus on the fact that your "biological" clock is ticking, but also on the fact your marriage needs to be SOLID before considering adding children to the mix.

Sounds like your husband is wise to wait until he sees how the marriage works out.
