What other tests have the doctors done to explain your low O2 levels? I am betting that they did imaging with a CT scan, did that reveal anything? How about PFT's or lung function tests...they can be done with a trach in as well using an adapter. Scarring of the lungs can cause problems with oxygenation but that usually shows up in CT scanning to some degree. I wish I could be of more help....Sunny

Yes Sunny,
My doctors did CT scan, and PFT, but everything and all the test comes normal, But still I find it hard to breath on my own.
I go off the vent for 5-6 hours and then I get chest pain and my sat starts dropping.
I dont know what is wrong with me, can any doctor or anyone tell me what should i do.
I need help urgently.
I am very frustrated and dont know what to do, Even my prayers to god, havent been answered yet.

thanks

How frustrating! Last place I can think of is the heart...I bet you have had many tests in that department as well. Maybe you are shunting blood (I am definitely reaching though). On a more personal note, I know how hard it is to wean, I have been living on a vent for over 3 years...my diaphragm is weakened bilaterally but docs don't know why. But, in the beginning of my problems, before they figured it was the diaphragm, they did about every test known to man on me as well including a lung biopsy.
Another thought, did they also test your muscles (diaphragm as well as for neuromuscular disorders)....a weak diaphragm would make it harder to wean.
I wish you god's speed in getting some needed answers. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers...Sunny
