Failure of medication for chlamydia

Hi

I was diagnosed with chlamydia. I am a 29 year old female. I went to the doctor to get tested for all STD's and the chlamydia test came back positive. Unfortunately I am not entirely sure what medication I took but the antibiotics I took as follows:

2 large tablets taken on day 1
1 tablet taken daily for 7 days (I think this was ciprobay)
2 tablets taken twice daily for 10 days.

Approximately two and a half weeks later I went to get tested to check that it had cleared. The test came back positive. However, as a result of all the antibiotics I had quite severe Thrush.

My questions are whether or not it is possible that the medication didn't work and/or whether the fact that I had thrush when I retested could have tainted the result?

I don't seem to have any symptoms. Although I think I may have some pain in the pelvic area and I seem to get nauseous for no apparent reason rather often.

Please help.

Anything on the vibrator would be dead now. But for good measure clean it like you should do after every use.

Thank you.

Sorry for bugging you again. But I was thinking last night about sex toys. If I used my vibrator during the time I had chlamydia, do I need to get rid of it or is it safe to keep.

I got my test back and it came back negative. So I'm thinking that I did in fact retest too early.

One last question. Do I need to go back in say a month or two to make sure that all is ok?

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. It has been another 2-3 weeks so I will get tested again. When I had the yeast infection I did get treatment as it was quite bad. Usually the over the counter meds work but in this case they didn't so I got a prescription from my doctor. So while I was taking the antibiotics I was using stuff for thrush in addition to taking inter flora or probitotics.

The doctor certainly didn't say I had other things going on as well. As I said I tested specifically for all STD's and only chlamydia came back positive.

I would've thought the nausea would've subsided by now as it has been a while.

Okay, so maybe I retested too early. Will make an appointment today.

I also feel vaguely itchy. Although this may just be in my head.

Thank you again.

You may be naseous from all the medication.  If you only had chlamydia, you didn't need all that medication unless you had other things going on as well.  Also, it is possible you retested too early.  Try again in another 2-3 weeks.  Give your body time to recover from all the antibiotics and ask for a treatment for yeast infections.  I wonder why your doctor thought it necessary to give you all that medication for chlamydia?
