It is possible that you had something else. Maybe NGU which can be caused from bactria that is found in the mouth, so it can be aquired during oral sex. But also did she have a throat swab? If not then she should have that done to see if she might have oral gonorrhea.
My girlfriend just got off the phone with her doctor. Vance, I had her address everything you told me. Her Dr. said, in her professional opinion, she highly doubts that oral gonorrhea was the cause. She said that the fact that we have been together for 5 years and had no symptoms whatsoever spoke to there being such a little chance of her having given me oral gonorrhea that she wouldn't even worry about it. Also, oral gonorrhea(usually)comes with a symptom of at least a sore throat. None of this has occurred.
That's the whole mystery of it. After five years of being together, having been with no others, gonorrhea just comes out of nowhere. I believe I had an infection, but I'm having a hard time buying that it was an STD.
Vance, you don't know how much I thank you for your input.
I would say the Dr is mostly right. She would have had to given oral sex to someone else in order to get oral gonorrhea, so I would doubt that she had it. But most of the time oral gonorrhea is asymptomatic-so I disagree with her Dr on that part.
So unless she cheated then it is probably NGU.
I agree with you on the fact that oral gonorrhea can be asymptomatic and I too think that was an oversight on her Dr.'s part. But i swear, depending on where you look and what you read you get so many different stories for the same diseases.
Vance, once again. Thanks. haha... and no,she isn't the cheating type.
I have to ask. How'd the hospital miss this? Do they have a system of blanketing eveything as an STD based on symptoms?
Can't speak for where you went but a lot of places just aren't as knowledgable on STD's. They assume that one symptom is pointing to a STD so that is what it has to be. So they treat it as they see it. if you ever go to a STD clinic they ask questions and run tests to make sure they are treating a STD.
The asymptomatic info I got from the Dr's on this site. They believe that most cases are.
I think a lot of times people are asked questions and they respond with what they think they felt, I mean sore throats are pretty common, just a dry throat can cause a sore throat. But people also respond with what they think the person wants to hear. So someone gets diagnosed with oral gonorrhea and gets asked "Did you have a sore throat after performing oral sex?" A lot of times it might be yes just based on the info above. If a question was asked, "Did you notice anything after perofrming oral sex?" I think most people will say no. But that is just my opinion..
With so many not knowledgable about STDs can't that lead to hit and miss practices??? Wouldn't a hospital like that run the risk of sending someone away with a clean bill of health when they are indeed infected and the other way around??? Is everyone basically rolling the dice when they see their Dr. about an STD?
No I would not say that. Most places will test and a lot of places will test and treat what they think it is. I would not say so many not knowledgable...I probably over stated with the word "a lot".
I think that is a yes and no, Hospitials and dr. offices don't speaclize in these things and unless they are aware of your background they aren't gonna jump in looking for an STD.
With you walking in saying my penis hurts when I pee it could be a few things an STD, NGU (which most docs. don't even look for unless asked) UTI ect.
I agree with Vance this honestly sounds like NGU which can also cause false positives for other STDs such as Gono and Chlamydia. Also, your GF should consider getting a throat swab just to be 100% sure, its not worth a reinfection =)
If you don't mind me asking what did they prescribe you??
The nurse just told me the names of what they gave me and I forgot, but it was about 4 pink pills and 1 white one...at least 40cal. in size.
I swear, I'm never having sex again. Im going to just play BINGO or watch Jeopardy if I get the urge
Jeopardy is a good show. But sex is too good to stay away from.
Haha! Its not like I really even have "sex" sex. I have anal, but its mostly for her. Its anything but horrible but she gets a lot more out of it than I do. Hardly ever even do oral. Believe me, after this undeserved scare Ive become quite coitaphobic.
Why anal and not vaginal?
Vaginal is something Id rather do when we're married.
Well you let her know that having anal sex puts her at a higher risk for anal cancer.
From what ive read most causes of anal cancer are from HPV(85%) We always use condoms.Always.
"AND if you are going to continue having unprotected sex with multiple partners then you need to make sure you are getting yearly even maybe every 6 month testing to make sure you do not get and STD and if you do that your not transmitting it to others."
I was reading this from your response to john1981. See, I guess you could say my POV is going to be a little different from the average American male as I waited(27years)to have sex. What blows my mind reading so many of these entries is that people will title their comment something like"I'm really worried"-then as they go on to explain it usually starts with "I had unprotected sex with.... "
Believe me, I'm not being judgemental at all, I don't want anyone to catch anything, but it perplexes me that these fears aren't there before hand. STDs didn't just come out. If you know something like an STD is going to scare the life out of you STOP HAVING UNPROTECTED SEX!!! That part is not hard.
