Hello Doctor,
I am a 26 year old male and I had a sexual encounter with a 22 year old female on April 9th (unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex in which the condom slipped off towards the end.)
On the morning of April 16th, I visited a lab and had a NAAT test preformed for chlamydia and gonorrhea. The results for these tests came back negative.
On the evening of April 20th, I began to feel a slight pain in my right groin area and noticed a small swollen gland. I have had no other symptoms to this point but the pain in my gland area has caused me to worry.
My questions are the following:
1) How reliable are the results for the NAAT test given the timeframe after the possible exposure? If not very accurate, when should I be tested again?
2) Is the groin pain alone enough to worry about a potential exposure or could it be caused by something else?
