gonnorhea treatment

Hi all, on may 4th I made the mistake of having sex with a prostitute unprotected (I was heavily intoxicated).  A few days later I noticed a tingling sensation and burning after urination so I went to the doctor and received treatment on May 11th.  I received a 3 muscular injection of Cephem for 3 days and a 1 week prescription of some antibiotics.  I tried this for 2 weeks and was not making any progress except for after the injections.

I went to a different hospital after my 3rd week there (larger hospital), and received vein injections of cefitriaxone and zithromax (azithromycin).  The vein injections of cefitriaxone stopped my symptoms, but only for 48 hours.  I'm not sure if the pills were really working.

So basically, its been a month and so far the only thing that has really stopped my symptoms has been the vein injections of cefitriaxone.

Can anyone recommend any other strategies for beating gonnorhea?

I'm at my wits end with this and its driving me crazy because of the stress of knowing I carry a disease.  If there is any kind soul with experience or wisdom with this disease, please share your words as I feel really isolated and "dirty" for being so reckless.

thanks and good luck to us all

what testing has been done so far on you?

you have to remember to follow up with syphilis testing after 6 weeks post encounter. herpes, hiv and hepatitis testing can be done after 3 months post encounter .

Hi and welcome. Well you were not diagnosed with Gono so you dont know you have it Normally with this there is white/yellow discharge or burning while urinating about 5 days post exposure.
One thing that is common from your exposure is NSU/UTI which is a urinary tract infection also called non specific urethritis. Some time it takes a few visits to the doctor and antibiotics to clear it up. You really should have a test to see what this is if your having a discharge. They can do a swab and test to see what it is.
This is very common to get NSU and to have reoccuring symptoms esp urethrea irritation. Also remember that this experience can cause phantom symptoms where you think you have an irritation from anxiety.
Have a follow up at the doctors office.
