Well thats gone and done it....

I was with a prostitute today at a known 'shop'. We were having sex when the condom broke, i mean im pretty certain it was only for a matter of seconds before i realised and withdrew, it was the end bit that had torn and she didnt seem that moist - am thinking thats the reason it broke in the first place.

I'm just wondering what my chances are  of contracting HIV, ive been reassured by the girl (i know this could mean nothing) that she has nothing and is regularly checked. Im still slightly worried and have been researching how long youre supposed to leave it before getting checked. Am thinking of getting PCR test within 10 or so days to put my mind at ease but was hoping you guys could lay it down for me.

Whats the likelyhood that ive gotten hiv or something else?

I dont think ill be using them again in a hurry and will have to start relying on my wit & humour to get girls instead of 20 notes..

All info most gratefully received,

A stressed guy

Hi  /

Your chances of getting "something else" were possible, not zero risk.  You have the favor of initially using a condom, so this is good.  On this forum we address non-HIV related STDs.

Your situation is exactly what is meant by condoms not being totally safe, you take the risk in that they could rupture, next to that is people don't know how to use them correctly.   When used correctly and don't break, they ARE safe sex (and many people fail to recognize this) and will protect you from two hand fulls of STDs including HIV.

Try not to worry so much, you encounter was a medium level risk (some will catagorize it as low risk --since your partners STD stauts is known --she said she had nothing) for most STDs.

Get tested at appropate window periods for each STD.
