Risk of STDs???

Hi there,
I am a lesbian, and me and my girlfriend were going to try cunnilingus, but a friend convinced us not to on risk of STDs. Neither of us have had sex with anyone before. Will we catch herpes etc. if we didn't use a dental dam or something?

you mean you both had your gardasil shots?  that protects against 4 types of hpv. if neither of you have had partners before, you know you don't have hpv.

www.iwannaknow.org is a terrific site aimed at teens. I'm assuming you aren't too much older than that?  sounds like you need basic std info.

Yes, as said, test for HSV-1 to know your status.

So maybe consider HPV;  though it is rare in virgins, there is that low possibility that you can have it and with the new information it raises that slight suspicion, but as most classical STD you need to have had sex to get it.  And know that you can get different strains of HPV.

easy way to assess your risk is for both of you to get tested for hsv1.  since you've never had sex with anyone before, that would be your only std related risk.

Hi  /

Most STDs are passed on by unprotected penil-vaginal/anal/insertive sex from an infected person.

Unprotected cunnlings is low risk, but not zero risk.  ,The virus can be passed on from mouth to gentias if one of you has oral herpes.   Again the risks is  low but possible.
