Chlamydia medication

I am a 19 year old female. My doctor prescribed me 500mg Azithromycin for 3 days. But everywhere I am reading says I’m supposed to take 1g of Azithromycin which was not what I was prescribed. I got retested after 6 days and I’m still positive. I haven’t had sex since being positive the first time. Can anyone help?????

Totally agree.

There's also some resistance to azithromycin. Another alternative treatment is doxycycline for 7 days.

Definitely talk to your doc.

If you're in the US, you can show your doc this - https://www.cdc.gov/std/treatment-guidelines/chlamydia.htm

It may be a little soon for a test of cure but the often dose is either a 1 to 1.5g stat for a 1g stat with 500mg the next 2 days. Either way I would have a chat with the doc :)
