Are false-negative results for chlamydia and gonorrhea possible?

I had protected sex 8 days ago and started experiencing the following symptoms the day after sex: pain in testicles, pain while urinating, urge to urinate frequently, slight burning sensation near the tip of the penis and slight/infrequent itching in the genital area. I do not have any apparent bumps or sores - or at least not yet. I got tested for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis 3 days ago (or 5 days after sex) - the results were all negative. I also got the antibiotic treatment for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea 3 days ago (before blood/urine samples were taken for testing).

If I tested negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea - then what could my symptoms be?! Is it possible that these tests were false-negative? I was hoping that the antibiotic treatment would get rid of these symptoms - but now I am afraid that I have some other viral infection. Please help!

your erection problem is not a STD problem.

Thanks. I appreciate your response.

The problem now is that I cannot get an erection. Physically, I think I am still capable of getting an erection. For the past 3 days, I have been waking up with an erect penis, but as soon as I am awake the erection is gone. Of course, I cannot get an erection while I'm awake as all I think about these days is whether or not I have genital herpes, genital warts, or God forbid, HIV! I don't even get excited anymore - and it's really scaring me.

How long do I have to wait to get tested for genital herpes and genital warts? For HIV, I guess I will have to wait another 3 months to know whether or not I have it. These will be the worst three months of my life.

Gono-Chlamydia testing time is 5-7 days. The test is pretty reliable, i would've wait 7 days just to give it some time. You appaently had antibilotics so whatever you took should have killed te bacteria anyhow. Usually NGU causes those symptoms but not after just one day.

Syphillis - 6 weeks

If you had protected sex than you have nothing to worry about.

By the way, you wouldnt feel any symptoms just after a day of sex, this does not sound STD related.
