False Negative STD test

So my urologist is having me take a series of STD tests because of a couple a symptoms which I have.  He says it could be trich, chlamydia, or gonorrhea.  I see this urologist on a regular basis because of my kidney stones.  I have not had a stone in about a year.

Back to the STD testing...  I have been sexually active with only my girlfriend (now ex) for the past year.  She was tested before we started having sex and towards the end of the relationship (recently).  She was tested the second time because she had the symptoms of a yeast infection, but the yeast test that the doctors administered came back negative.  So they ordered a STD test.  Both STD tests came back negative.  The last time I was tested would have been about 2 years ago, and I have only been with 2 women in that period, used protection, but not always with my girlfriend.

My question is that, could she have been carrying a STD, had no symptoms, and had a test come back negative?  Could she just be a carrier?

thank you,

Mike00

they do not routinely check females for trich unless they have obvious symptoms of it.

I should have specified that she was tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea, but not trich.

Just saying she got a std test doesn't really mean anything. You need to know what she was tested for.  Some clinics asking for std testing just gets you tested for 2 or 3 stds.  Also some females think that just getting a yearly pap is all it takes and a pap test doesn't check for std's.  If you are really concerned about her status, ask.

At this point it sounds like you are getting your own testing done now though anyways?
