Chlamydia and antibiotic problems

Hello community. Thanks for this forum.

This is my story:

On February 2, I was exposed to unprotected oral sex. I am a man, 26 years old.

A woman from a massage parlor gave me unprotected fellatio for 40 seconds, when I realized it I told her to stop. I immediately left the place very terrified of contracting chlamydia.

14 days later, that is, on February 16, I visited my urologist. He told me that the potential risk was gonorrhea, so I took a urine test for gonorrhea, which came back negative. I calmed down for a few days and resumed unprotected sex with my girlfriend. However, on February 25, I started a course of 3 doses of 500 mg of an antibiotic called DICOXACILLIN (DYNAPEN) for a wound on my skin.

Now my fears have returned because my girlfriend has burning pain when urinating and a headache. My fear has led me to believe that I was infected with chlamydia and gave it to my girlfriend. Since March 5th, I have had several negative chlamydia tests, but I have a big question.

Could DICLOXACILLIN (DYNAPEN) have cured my chlamydia?

I had chlamydia, I passed it on to my girlfriend and now because of the DICLOXACILLIN the test came out negative?

If my girlfriend is infected, can she in a hypothetical case infect me again?

thanks community
Greetings.

The chances of you getting anything from 40 seconds of oral sex are very, very slim. Oral sex is lower risk than vaginal or anal sex, and 40 seconds is very brief.

The level of doxy might cure chlamydia, but I don't think there have been studies on it.

Oral chlamydia doesn't occur as often as oral gonorrhea, and your gf could have a urinary tract infection, a yeast infection, or any number of other things. She might even be dehydrated.

Your fear is not nearly in proportion to the risk, which is very low.

Thanks for your timely response Aunt Jessie.

It reassures me to read that oral chlamydia is rare.

On the other hand, the antibiotic was not DOXY but DICLOXACILLIN (its trade name is Dynapen). I don't know if this changes your comments. It was prescribed to me for skin infections (I only took it for a day and a half).

Can all antibiotics cure chlamydia?

Thanks Aunt Jessie.
Oh I'm sorry - I missed that. That might cure chlamydia, it might not. It's probably not been studied.

Not all antibiotics cure chlamydia, but really, it doesn't matter. Your chances of having it are very slim, even without the antibiotic. Most experts don't think one encounter of oral sex even warrants testing.

If you are concerned, just go get a chlamydia test. I don't know where you are, and don't need to, but you don't need to go to a urologist. Any doctor can give you STD tests. Just tell them you've had unprotected sex and want to know your status. Your tests now would be accurate.

I suspect you won't rest until you know for sure. I don't think you have any reason to worry, but if you need to test for peace of mind, then test.
Thanks so much again AuntJessie, your work on this forum is amazing, thanks for that.

I don't think I'll try anymore, I've already had 3 negative Chlamydia tests and I'm tired. I'll just accept the logic of science and the probabilities you explain to me in this thread (considering I haven't had any symptoms).

One last question to close this thread for good:

1. If I gave my girlfriend chlamydia, can she give it back to me?

2. Is it a good proof that we never get infected if we don't have symptoms in the next few months?

Thanks for your help, AuntJessie. I admire you.

1. If I gave my girlfriend chlamydia, can she give it back to me?

Yes, IF you did. You've tested negative.

2. Is it a good proof that we never get infected if we don't have symptoms in the next few months?

Can't go by symptoms, but can go by testing. You've tested negative. Three times.

Let it go. :)
1.5 grams of Doxy are way under the required dosage to have bacteriostatic or bactericidal properties on chlam. So you can rest assured you have not accidently cured chlam , the doses are 200mg per day for 7 to 10 days for uncomplicated cases and 200mg for 20-25 days for complicated chronic infections. Since you have tested negative, put your mind at ease now, and be vigilant next time you go to a massage parlor, as your girlfriend is a human being and does not deserve mistreatment as nor do you. Now this was my "judgmental" rant :).

Hi auntiejessy btw  hope life treats you well :)
Hi :) Hope you are doing well, too.

He didn't take doxy - he took Dicloxacillin, which isn't doxy - I made the same mistake. In the end, it doesn't matter, though - you're correct. He didn't accidently cure chlamydia. :)

Thanks to AUNTJESSIE and KLAMIDIA for their help on this forum.

Yes, KLAMIDIA, you are right. I had never had anything like this happen to me and I foolishly made a mistake that caused me a lot of pain and anxiety. It has been a very hard life lesson.

On the other hand, as AUNTJESSIE says, the antibiotic was not DOXY but DICLOXACILLIN 500 mg (DYNAPEN in its trade name). It was prescribed to me for a skin wound. Does this additional information change your thoughts about accidentally curing chlamydia? I took only 3 doses of this antibiotic for a day and a half.

Thanks for everything.

ah my eyes are failing me it seems, that's beta lactam penicillin antibiotic, it has no effect on chlam.   Damn i'm starting to need glasses.
Hahaha I had my glasses on and missed it. ;)
Does this mean that beta-lactam penicillins like DICLOXACILLIN cannot penetrate the chlamydial cell wall because they lack peptidoglycan? I don't know if my thesis is correct?

On the other hand, as I understand it, there is also little chance of a cure for chlamydia due to such a short course of antibiotics, right?

Also, penicillin doesn't have bactericidal effects on a bacterium like Chlamydia that has a single cell wall, right?

Could I conclude that science is on my side in this whole nightmare?
You are way, way over thinking this.

Let's go back to the basics.

You had 40 seconds of unprotected oral sex. This is incredibly low risk.

Chlamydia is uncommon from oral sex.

You've tested negative 3 times.

The meds you've taken don't matter, because you don't have it. You never had it. It didn't hide it or cure it or anything, because you didn't get it.

I don't know what's happening with your gf. It could be a UTI, dehydration, or a long list of other things that are totally unrelated to this. Not everything will be about you, or things you did.

Guilt does not equal risk.
