yes indeed folliculitis can be contagious - nothing at all suspicious about jess's reply.

Folliculitis is NOT contagious and has either a bacterial or fungal cause that is resident in the body of the sufferer. The best cure I've found is a topical solution of 97% rubbing alcohol with a cotton ball, twice daily to kill the bacteria. Follow this with a mild moisturizer so that your skin does not dry out. If the symptoms are really bad, do the treatment 3 times a day.
The problem never actually goes away as it is systemic (whole body) and the bumps are but just one sign, but the treatment keeps it under control and your skin will have less redness and bumps afterwards.
Avoid sugar, sugar is the food which the bacteria/fungus relies on to stay alive. I have switched to Stevia and zero sugars and my skin has calmed down quite a bit.
Auntiejessie's opinion is extremely specious, especially since she says a skin condition is contagious which is more like saying Acne is contagious.
It depends on what's causing it. It can be contagious, and as a rule, any time you have symptoms genitally, you should avoid sex.
You can try an antibacterial soap and warm compresses, but seeing a doctor if its bad or lingering is a better idea.
