Can banknote transmit STDs?

Dear Doctors,

I read some articles and they says banknote can transmit STDs. Is that true?

If it is true, how can I avoid such STDs transmission? Do I need to wash my hands after each touch of banknote in my daily life? Or I only need wash my hands after I touch many banknotes?

Thanks a lot!

I read article that says some cashiers who contact banknotes very often everyday got STD by banknote. I am not sure it is true or not.

Are you kidding?

Banknotes cannot transmit STDs.  If so, the entire population of the US would have an STD.

Yes, you should wash your hands a few times a day. It's good hygine.

No they can't transmit it - only sexual contact - oral, vaginal or anal sex - can transmit stds.
