Herpes swab and sex question

If I have herpes but no lesions would a swab text detect it? I had HSV 2 blood test and results were negative. Not sure if this is really herpes though.

Also, if it is herpes what is the likelihood of passing it on to a partner through genital sex?

I posted in a couple other forums but no one has responded I started getting little yellow scabs on my anus, is this part of my strep infection or does that sound like something else?
Hope you see this message...
I was also thinking impetigo, I don't know, I'm just terrified at this point...

Hate to belabor this topic but you seem knowledgable and I can't find anything online.  I'm pretty sure this strep infection is on my anus as well and it's soooooo painful. Do you have any suggestions? I'm using colloidal silver, triple anti-biotic, hydrocortisone directly on it. I'm also taking antibiotics and prednisone.

Okay, that explains the immense pain, there isn't much online that I can find about this so it's not easy understanding it. I'm seeing my doctor again tomorrow so I'll ask for some pain meds.

That fits. Strep skin infections often very painful, much more than herpes.

Apparently it turned out to be a strep infection, it's very painful though. Just to update you on my situation.

Thanks for the clarification. I agree there was no point in being tested for HSV1. And you have not transmitted it to your genital area. That will never happen. Transfer to other body areas (called auto-inoculation) occurs almost entirely during the initial infection. After a few weeks or months, the immune system prevents it.

I didn't get hsv1 tested as I have it in my nose so I didn't feel like there was a point. I guess there are ranges when you're having an outbreak but my doctor didn't think that was necessary.

I had really bad allergies to where I couldn't even see and I've been sick so basically I'm freaking out thinking I transmitted it to my genitals.

I missed that you've already seen 4 doctors. That's even more evidence against herpes. Even if your blood test had been positive for either type of HSV, it would mean you have asymptomatic HSV plus some other cause of your skin pain.

Herpes never behaves like this -- but in any case, your negative blood test 4 months after your last possible exposure proves HSV isn't the problem. (I'm assuming it checked for both HSV1 and 2.) See a doctor if your symptoms persist. Most genital rashes and other symptoms are not due to STD and there is no reason to suppose yours are, especially with herpes now excluded.

Basically the major symptom is my skin hurting. There's nothing on my skin, it looks completely normal however the skin hurts and feels odd. My skin feels like it's been rubbed too much. It's been this way for 3-4 weeks now and 4 doctors can't find anything.

It should be over 12 weeks as I've been with my partner for 4 months.

Not sure if that info helped, but I'm completely stressing out. Thank you for responding.

If you had the blood test more than 12 weeks after your possible exposure, the result is conclusive:  you don't have HSV2. In that case, there is no point in doing a swab test for the virus.

Genital HSV1 is infrequently transmitted to partners, because recurrent outbreaks and asymptomatic shedding of the virus both are rare. These are much lower risks than for HSV2.

Maybe I or other forum regulars will be able to help more if you would like to post more information, like your exposure, symptoms, etc. And the timing from exposure or symptoms until your blood test.

Let me clarify, if it is herpes but it's type 1, what is the likelihood of passing it on to a partner.
