Herpes/Shaving

I shave regularly in the private area. The other day I used a different razor, with no shaving cream, and I shaved fast. In the next few days I noticed about 6 red bumps in the area that I shaved, at the base of the penis, and halfway up the shaft. (I get hairs there). A few of the red bumps had hair in the middle, which I plucked out. It has been a day and a night, and they look significantly better already. I have no other symptoms. I don't really have any reason to believe that I have herpes other than a rumor that was spread that I gave my ex GF the virus. I confirmed with her that I did not. I have never had blisters down there or experienced any "Primary outbreak". I have had a few of these bumps before, that seemed to come after shaving. Any way it could be herpes, or am I being strange ? I have been monogamous for months with the same girl as well, and I know that she is clean. I was tested for everything almost a year ago as well, and most of my sexual experience was before that test. After the test I was with a very small number of women.

Ohh fabulous doctor!  Good luck with the results, and stop picking at things lol.  You can introduce other bacteria into the sores and make them worse, or you could spread any bacteria that is causing this.

Excellent, I should expect a negative result in the blood test. I get my results any day now ! I'm excited, as they tested for everything. They took out more blood than I have ever seen taken out of a person. They tested for all STD's and kidney/liver problems, thyroid, etc.....

This doesn't sound like herpes at all.

To clarify, the reason I said "If I had it, I would have for at least 3-5 months, is because I have been monogamous with a girl that has had one sexual partner for the last few months, and I'm completely sure that she does not have it. I do not have an actual reason to believe I came into contact with the virus. Just random worry I guess.

I picked at one of the bumps, and it is one of two that are still visible. The rest have healed. Some healing perfectly, but two still needing another day or two, that really seem uncharacteristic of herpes from what I have read. Am I correct to think this ? I had a herpes blood test just to be sure, but I have to wait to get the results. If I do have it, I have had it for 3-5 months or so. I'm not sure if I mentioned but these bumps do not hurt, and I can urinate, masturbate, etc.... all comfortably.

It does sound like its not herpes, if its going away this fast.

And nice friend for saying that.  If she has herpes, she should know better.

I did not mean to make it sound like I was referring to having an STD as dirty. I should have said "I'm sure that she is negative of STD's" Clean is just the word that I have heard being used for the most part, and probably should not be the norm. They even said "You tested clean." at the clinic to me. The word does imply that having something is dirty, which I agree is not right at all.

Regarding the rumor, I have a friend with herpes, and it offends me when people make fun of the virus. A new friend of mine had done so, and I told her "It's not funny at all to make fun of that." She asked "Sorry, do you have it?" I just said "Well, some people do and it hurts to hear such things" A week later she apparently told people that I had it, and that I'd probably given it to my last girlfriend. I talked to my ex about it, and she said that she was fine. I knew that I did not give her anything, as we are still close friends. Just that rumor put ideas in my head. I let things get me worked up.

The bumps have been there for about 2 days, and are almost invisible now, and they have not popped or anything, just the redness has gone away, and bumps are basically flat now. I hope this added information makes a difference. It seems plucking the hair out of the bump really helps.

Thanks

First, not having an std doesn't make someone "clean", anymore than having one makes a person "dirty."

You also don't know if you are infected or not with herpes unless you get a type specific IgG blood test.  Since someone has said you infected her, it might be a good idea.

The timing of this sounds like it might be folliculitis, but shaving might also trigger outbreaks for herpes, so you should find out if you have it or not.
