Idiocratic Penile Edema

On a tuesday while shopping at Target my penis got very itchy.  I refrained from scratching very much.  That night when I had sex I felt relief from the friction as it felt like the itch on my penis was being scratched.  The next day I was masturbating and had the same sensation - it felt as if I was scratching my penis not really masturbating.  I stopped.  And about 30 seconds after stopping masturbatng about 1/2" of tissue just below the head of my penis (about half way around the shaft) blew up to a size three or four times larger than normal.   It looked like I had half a golf ball hidden under the skin of my penis. I went to the a general practitioner who said it wasn't an infection because of the rapid onset and he perscribed me triamcinolone.  He thought it was an alergy and diagnosed it with idiocratic penile edema (unknown penis inflammation)  Three days have passed and the swelling is gone, and the area only is itchy when I masturbate.  There are no other side effects, urination is normal, no bumps or sores on the penis and no discharge from the penis.

My concerns are a male yeast infection or scabies, but I have no signs of either.  I have never had something itch so bad.  Throughout the day it is fine, but once I touch the affected area slightly it becomes unbearibly itchy until I put more cream on it.  The affected area is about 1" wide by 1/4" high.

Online it seems like I keep finding that scabies or yeast infection cause the itchyness and swelling (altho the way it onset is unexplainable it blew up like a balloon quickly).  If it lasts a week I will go to a urologist; but until then I was hoping for a second opinion based on the symptoms.

i have this right now!

it feels disgusting. i had scabies and the doctor prescribed a cream to me, and it got rid of all the scabies on my body.

i thought it was gone but just the other day i noticed 3 bumps on my penis from where i thought i got rid of the scabies.

that same day i noticed the same itching you felt and i scratched it a bunch thinking it was just normal jock itch, when i pulled out my penis to look at it, i had the same thing you had a big swollen lump on my wang.

i stopped scratching it and it went down and i applied some hydrocortizone and permethrin to it. then today i was showering and examining it and the tissue beneath my head swole up a little bit and again i applied permethrin to it. i have 3 bumps..two on my shaft and one on the head.

ps i have not been sexually active in about 2-3 months and the scabies occured about 2 months ago.

when i look at my penis with the edema things it freaks me out. should i be worried?

I believe it's idiopathic penile edema. idiocratic is more entertaining though...he he he

many times this is just a contact dermatitis type reaction so treating with topical steroids isn't a bad idea.  It also can be due to bacterial infections so if it's not better by tuesday, definitely follow up on it. If it gets worse and the swelling starts to make it hard for you to urinate, go to the ER.   sounds like things are pretty much  back to normal now though at this point.  Hold off on the masturbation for a week though and give the lil guy a rest!

also don't hesitate to try the very simple things like cool wash cloths to your penis periodically during the day too.

You should see a dermatologist.  And I would not wait after it already swelled up once.  Make the appointment now.  But other than scabies, It does not sound like anything that was caused sexually or transmitted sexually.
