Worried

Hello all,

I have had HSV-2 for about a year, I contracted it from my girlfriend. We recectly seperated for about two months and in that time she had unproteced sex, she says it was a one time thing but I have SEVERE doubts about that. She has also stated that she was tested shortly after and everything came back clean, to be honest though I have not seen any test results. I had two sexual partners, but in both cases we  were protected. Well to make a long story short we are back togather and have had unprotected sex, old habits die hard I guess. Well this morning I found a small herpes bump on the base of my penis which I had just noticed, it appears to have been there for awhile as there is small scab in the middle of it. We had alot of sex this weekend, all of it unprotected (stupid I know) with this bump there. It may also be of intrest to note that I get alot of outbreaks, but never anything acutally ulcers or blisters just pimple like bumps. So my question is this, what are the chances that she has contracted HIV and since we had unprotected sex with a herpes bump present what are the chances that I now have HIV. We are a white couple living in Arkansas. As far as I know they guy is not into needles or anything, but I could be wrong. Thanks you for taking the time to read thru this.

you know you have herpes so getting a recurrence of that, especially when you say you get them often, isn't the least bit surprising.

talk to your gf and ask her to find out what testing she's had done. Odds are that it was done too early but I don't think she picked up hiv anyways and that's causing your herpes recurrence.

if you get herpes recurrences frequently, why aren't you on daily suppressive therapy?

The best thing for you to do is the both of you get a full std panel.  Then discuss what is best for the both of you in continuing with your relationship.  If that is what you want to do.  Either way, the testing would be good so you know your status and can take appropriate action.
