Male received unprotected oral - questions

Hi - first off, thank you to the moderators in this forum for providing frank and honest answers.  My first searches, which directed me to government or other sources provided zero information regarding the "real" risks of transmission, which were not helpful.

Ok - so I've seen similar posts and I believe I read that my risk is very low, but would like conformation and I have a question. I am in the USA.  I was receiving a massage from a business that I have visited for about a year, often with same therapist, but I had not been in several months.  Previously, I had received a HJ on occasion. This time, she performed oral on me, which lasted about a minute or two. If it matters, she only inserted the top portion in her mouth.

First comment/question - I have read that the risk of receiving STD is quite low and thought I read that testing is not even recommended for this scenario.  Is this correct?

Second - if I were infected, what are the timelines for symptoms?

Third - if I would like to proceed with testing, for total confirmation, when is the appropriate time to get the tests?

Thank you

Receiving oral sex is very low risk and for a minute (or two) makes it even lower. The recommendation for this type of exposure is to monitor yourself and if no symptoms show up, you don't need to test.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate you confirming my understanding of the other posts.   What is the timeline for monitoring?
You don't really need to "monitor", if you mean looking for symptoms. If you get symptoms, you'll notice them.

Gonorrhea and chlamydia usually present with symptoms within a couple of weeks for men if they get symptoms. Syphilis will give you a sore within a few weeks, but syphilis is uncommon, and I wouldn't worry about it.

Genital herpes type 1, if you don't already have it orally, will give you symptoms within a couple of weeks.

Again, oral is lower risk than vaginal or anal sex, and experts don't think one act of unprotected oral even warrants testing.
Thanks for those additional details, very helpful!
You're welcome. :)
Hi -  a follow up question.  Today, (Wednesday) I noticed a small pink/reddish spot at the tip of my penis.  It looks like a very mild abrasion, but I haven't had any activity since the encounter that I described in my opening post - which occurred Sunday evening - so about three days.  I don't have any other potential symptoms.

Is this of concern and/or is it too early for a test?
A spot could be anything at all, but a single small spot isn't indicative of an STD. It sounds like you're monitoring your penis more closely, and you really don't need to do that.

It's too early for symptoms and for testing for anything. Note that auntiejessi stated WEEKS before any symptoms would appears for anything.
Thanks for the reply and confirmation.  I wasn’t specifically monitoring, but noticed the spot this morning after showering.  I suspected it was too early and, also, I realize the risk in my situation is very low. It just surprised me.  Thanks again for the reply.
