No risk but symptoms.

Hey,
Not sure wether to post this as general STI advise or Herpes hope I do this right. I have picked STI as I’m not sure what’s causing this although I think the likelies cause is herpes.

I have become to rely on this site a lot recently as I have had a recent encounter and now loads of symptoms that to me are alarming. I have read on numerous posts on here my activity was no risk. So how come the symptoms ?

My encounter was mutual masterbation with another male. We did swap hands around a fair bit (so this is how, I guess your no risk statement comes from not swapping hands and keeping solo)

5 days after I got a red mark on my penis shaft it’s the lower part of my penis shaft so low down it’s in the pubic region I do have hairs grow on my shaft. It was slightly painful and itchy but not too much.

I squeezed it and it popped white goo bleed a bit,  Cleaned up and it’s now ulcerated with a moist look to it.

I have today woke up with a fever, chills, muscle aches, runny nose, headache.

I have an appointment in two days at the GUM but hoping for some quicker advise, what do do and how to manage this.

Feel really unlucky right now. I guess this is Herpes of some kind? But could it be anything else? STI related or otherwise.

Hey! Lucky you I was browsing MedHelp when your question came through.

A lot to unpack here. You seem to be convinced you have an STI? How come? You must realise that a common cold and a pimple is much more likely than any STI. But let’s unpack this in stages.

First hand genital contact is believed to be a no risk encounter.

Theoretical risk if you had direct genital to genital contact and even then it’s not really seen in practice. So you had an entirely safe experience.

Your red spot dosnt sound like herpes at all. Typically Herpes are water filled blisters and they cluster (more than one). The fact it popped and leaked puss argues against Herpes and points toward a zit or a hair follicular that has got clogged? Do you shave ?

The cold/flu symptoms is probably entirely that. Rest up and drink fluids. You seem to have read some things online and jump straight on the STI bandwagon. Herpes can cause flu like symptoms, but almost always with obvious blisters. Also I’m not aware of any first stage Herpes break out causing a runny nose. If this is related to your experience 5 days before it’s because you caught a cold of him. Nothing more.

So no risk event, nothing you type sounds remotely like an STI and I think I have gave you the most likely explanation for your symptoms.

You can breath now.

Hey just to chime in, you may be able to go get that swabbed at an urgent care facility if you go as soon as you can while its still open.. Thats what I’d do. They can also tell you what they think as they are giving you an in-person examination rather than only getting advice from a forum, which does help give you an idea, but it can’t be diagnosed online.

Could be exactly what they said, but nooone here can see it so the only way to know is get it looked at and swabbed today if you can. Hope all works out for ya

Wow that was quick.

I don’t want to seem ungrateful but isn’t a lot of what you said inaccurate where do you get your information. I have read loads online that absolutely disagree with this.

For example how can you say it’s no risk. When you can give yourself Herpes from mouth to genitals.

The NHS states one or more blisters.

Sorry I come for advise but I can’t move on.

What if he had herpes whitlow.

Your in deep with this aren’t you. I can understand why, your symptoms and excessive googling.

Straight to your follow ups.

I get my information from doctors, studies, medical books and documents, real life experianced a miriad of places.

I think you are talking about autoinoculation where if you had open sores on your lip for example in a first outbreak you subsequently touched yourself you can transfer to your genital right? This in its self is a rare event, and requires a lot of the virus to be transferred. If your partner didn’t have open blisters at the time this is entirely different to the situation autoinoculation happens.

In theory one blister could be herpes (way more likely to cluster) but you haven’t got a blister. You have a spot, a blister is fluid filled a spot is puss filled.

Herpes whitlow, a rare presentation on its self. It’s very painful and very obvious. He would have no interest in touching you if he had an outbreak and they don’t asymptomaticcally spread like genital herpes can.

In either case you have an appointment with a clinic soon. They will back up what I have said I’m sure. If not then please report back. (Maybe someone else will want to offer some advise to you)
Please stay mellow. Nothing to worry about.
Hopefully I didn’t insult you. I just noticed you don’t have much a profile etc. and what you say is wrong it must be. I’ll let you know what the Clinic says in the meantime hopefully a community leader can give thoughts.
No insult taken. I’ll leave this to the community leaders then. Hope I can help a little in the meantime.

I have to wonder what you came here for you seems convinced that you have herpes, so what did you want if not scientific based reassurance that you haven’t ?

Treatment plans? The clinic much better placed for that. But I won’t advise on how to treat as I simply don’t think you have herpes in fact im sure of it.

You have no other STI either so maybe a post somewhere else will help.

I guess I wanted some counselling that I’ll be ok living with Herpes and like you said what treatment is like and just to double check that because I caught Herpes what else do I need to do.
If you had herpes (you haven’t) you would be absolutely ok living with it. Most people don’t require any treatment at all, and if this was Herpes (it’s not) it’s very mild so you may not even have anymore outbreaks.

It’s manageable between couples your clinic will explain that, well the would if you had it (you haven’t)

What else do you need to do? Speak to the clinic normally I would say no need but you clearly need reassurance that you are ok. Don’t try and make them say your not ok (like you are doing with me) listen to what they say and believe it.

You don’t need testing for any STI at all period. If your spot dosnt clear up or gets painful maybe a cream but nothing other than normal zit cream.

And rest, take lots of fluids, hot baths and eat plenty to combat your cold/flu.
Herpes is transmitted by direct, unclothed, skin to skin contact. It is not transmitted by genital to hand to genital contact.

I don't know if you have herpes from another encounter, but you didn't get it from this one.

If you get another sore, don't pop it. You are making it very hard for your doctor to actually test you. They test the fluid, and if you squeeze all that out, they have nothing to test.

That said, it sounds like you had a pimple or an infected hair follicle. The white goo and blood doesn't sound like a blister, which, as Dadz explained as well as I would have, is watery fluid.
