Pain in meatus (urethral opening), as of yet concerns not quelled.

So, I had unprotected sex with a woman about 2 months ago now. About a week after, I noticed a mild irritation at the tip of my penis and two marks that looked like cuts right on my meatus, leaving it feeling 'raw' for lack of a better term. It doesn't hurt or burn when I urinate, and there's no discharge or itching. It just feels irritated, and when pressure is applied to the tip of my penis it hurts quite a lot. There was a slight red rash on the head of my penis without any sort of bumps, but it also did not burn or itch, and hydro-cortisone cream made it disappear within a day or so (I've had genital eczema before). This pain didn't dissipate, so I went to see my GP and had some blood work done at about the 2 week mark. All tests came back negative (HSV, HIV, Hepatitis, etc) and I also went to see a dermatologist who said it seemed fine.

Now, this is 2 months later and I still feel a slight pain and some irritation at the opening of my urethra. There's still no itching, no swelling of my lymph nodes -- really nothing that would lead me to conclusively believe I know what I have. It may be irrelevant, but I've also noticed that when I have an erection the urethra is far more open than it had been before. It's most noticeable when I apply any sort of pressure to the head of my penis or when it rubs against my boxers, as it feels like a pinching sensation. I refrained from having sex for about a week and the pain dissipated a small amount, but upon engaging in sex once more I found the pain returned. It also does not hurt when I orgasm, nor does it hurt when masturbating or actually having sex. I'm still concerned that I may have some variety of HSV as the antibodies may not have appeared at the two week mark, and the anxiety of this is driving me mad. I also had a swap test for other STDs but they also came back negative.

Main points of concern or interest:

-pain in meatus
-small 'cuts' at urethral opening
-slight local swelling near 'cuts'
-irritation and pain with pressure or rubbing
-no burning, itching, or discharge -- only slight pain at urethral opening
-has lasted about 2 months now

I'd appreciate any insight or solutions that may be available. I'm really quite scared of what this may be.

I have a similar problem, and have been seeing a urologist about it. I've had my pains for a couple of years actually, and it makes sex uncomfortable. The pain at the tip is always there. It doesn't hurt to urinate, I notice the pain the most when my foreskin pulls back (I am not circumcised) or when I get erect enough (usually before climax).

What the urologist said was that this is not an STD (thank goodness), and at some point in time I had caused trauma to it, wounding it, and it didn't heal properly. The urologist claimed there is a surgery I can get, which I will be going to in a few months. I'm not sure what will come of this surgery yet, and I certainly hope it heals up, but he seemed to be pretty confident in it. It involves burning the affected area off, so it can heal again properly. Sounds unpleasant, but he claims it is a mere 5 minute surgery and I should feel minimal pain during the healing process.

So my suggestion would be to see a urologist and see if this is an option for you. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Oh and my third HIV test after 14 weeks was negative, everything for blood work is negative.. I've had multiple urine tests and no infection exists, but I've never had a prostate exam yet which leads me to my next question..

Could this be urethritis caused by Nonbacterial Prostatitis? Because I have no other explanation for our symptoms and its inability to resolve itself on its own.

The tip of my urethra is pissed off, and has remained that way for a long time, the small cuts or 'slits' are always prevalent on my meatus and they do feel quite raw.  Mine are located just outside of the lips (urethral opening) and extend straight down towards the "v" your head makes under the slit there.

Please help us! :-(

Word for word this post describes my situation.  Raw is definitely the word for the pain, open and sore feels like a possible infection.. but  Last week was 14 weeks since the occurrence of this problem and my herpes test was still negative.

I'm 23, I've been in a monogamous 3 year relationship and am now engaged, It's not an STD in my case, and I highly doubt it in yours as well.  We have been reluctantly abstinent for two months now and the problem still hasn't solved itself.  I've had your same problem for 6 months now,  I've seen three different urologists over that time and none see anything wrong.  To the eye they are barely noticeable but they feel so prevalent and raw.  Rubbing against underwear is awful!

I admit I'm a little stupid in regards to not using sufficient lubrication with my girl over the years, and I never used lube when masturbating.. I'm being led to believe that these in fact were cuts or abrasions recieved during unprotected intercourse or other forms of abuse.

Repeated trauma to the open tissue results in scar tissue, which does not stretch like the rest of our tip when it gets erect.  I'm wondering if its not a stretch mark that gets open or sore?  I feel the most "rawness" after intercourse, masturbation, or an erection in general.

I hope you or I find a solution to this problem.  Please stay in contact with me till this is resolved.  I've sent you my email address, User 280358 let me know if you find a solution.

herpes testing 2 weeks post encounter was far too early. you need to wait at least 3 months to have it done.

usually the symptoms you are having on the skin are due to fungal infections. if your regular provider is stumped, see a dermatologist for further evaluation.

many topical steroid creams are too strong for the sensitive genital skin. I'd stop using it at this point if you are still using it.

have they manually examined your prostate yet?
